I suggest the basement model Nook. I had three Sony readers, and they all died from Massive Battery Issues (the only solution to which was to...wait for it...send the unit back to Sony and pay $80 for a replacement). I've had the Nook for several months with no problems, got it at Target for less than $100, and have a 2-year warranty.
