Wow! Death of a Monk is translated into English? I didn't even know that.

And translated BADLY from the little I can see. That sentense is a lot shorter if you don't translate it so literally. It just a tongue twister. Real translation should try harder than just copy the original language word for word because that just wouldn't work.

Hebrew is a much more concised - you need a lot less words to say something. I see this mistake done with translations from Japanese to English as well... heh... people are too scared to loose things in translation (inevitable really) so they struggle to add many words in order to make it as accurate as possible... resulting in something that would make even Kafka cringe >_<.

It is a shame because I really love that book. It makes for uncomfortable reading though ...

Ooh! I have Death of a Monk on my bookshelves. Will try and remember to review when I get around to reading it.

I've just finished reading 'Mother Clap's Molly House' so you'll be getting a review of that fairly soon. Oh, and I was speaking to [livejournal.com profile] annecain about reviewing her 'Silk and Poison' (written with Barbara Sheridan). She says I can have a review copy for the asking, but do you already have something else worked out there?
