CATS! *keels*

Terrible night. 9pm came, 10pm came and went. The rain was coming down in sheets and Lili (my pink and white nemesis) had not returned.

She hates the rain, and I went out every half hour or so and called her. She always comes. Always! She's never been out all night. I thought: Oh she's sheltering somewhere. But really I was thinking. OMG SOMETHINGS HAPPENED TO HER. I went to bed, still worrying, knowing I couldn't sleep.

11pm came - midnight came, 1am came. I read, I made tea. I went out and called. Nothing. And by now in worst case scenario mode. I was crying, and planning the posters I would print at work the next day, gnashing my teeth that I didn't have even one photo of her, and worrying about vivisectionists.

Eventually I fell asleep. The rain had not stopped. I woke up at 4.30 and went to the loo. And I swear - it was like that scene in Peter Pan where Mrs Darling thinks she sees the children and they are really there but she doesn't believe it. I look across the hall where her night-time chair is and I thought I could see her and I sniffed dramatically, thinking I'd never see her again.

But of course she was actually there. The Monster. She was very pleased to be cuddled by a madly over-loving mummy at 430. She thought it was lovely.

When she had come in, and why she had not come in with her normal trumpets blaring and where she had been and why she was dry as a bone, I do not know. Maybe she wasn't out at all, but upstairs all the bloody time, even though I'd seen her go out.

Cats eh?

Aren't they little buggers sometimes? I swear they pull these sort of stunts just to keep us on our toes and make us realise how very, very important to us they are.

[identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It worked. Now she's sitting by my right hand and I'm stroking her constantly!

Glad you got your baby back!

Me too! Thanks for being there when I was stressing!

Silly kitty. Scaring you like that! *hugs*

[identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. She's quite clingy tonight. perhaps it scared her too.

[identity profile] asphodeline.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
aaargh, I know how horrible that is - the little minx was doubtless somewhere very warm and snuggly all the time!!
I woke to find a very snuggly cat on the bed with me. I love my cat.

[identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
she wasn't even damp, which is unusual, so I think you are right. when she comes in wet, she expects me to dry her!

[identity profile] ejab62.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, that is awful! My cat is too scared to go outside and I am secretly happy about that. Because of exactly this reason!
When I was still living at home, we had cats too and that happened as well with one of our cats. Oh, the agony and the worries and the anxienty!!!

Very happy that you got her back!

[identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Me too!

Ack!!

*hug*

I'm glad Lili is back. If it was me, I would've gone crazy with worry.

Thank you. Me too, I was pathetic.

*blush*

Worth checking the underneath of your furniture - one of my friends brought her cat to a con once (!), and since they were leaving early they moved all their stuff into my room. Jan lay down for a nap, and when she woke up, the cat was missing... We searched everywhere!

And eventually I looked under the bed, and noticed that the bed base was sagging. And when I felt the 'sag', it was warm and purring and put a few claws out. She'd found a loose corner of the canvas covering, and crawled into a nice warm dark hammock for a nap!

I have my suspicions that she was tucked away somewhere. The little horror!

[identity profile] leni-jess.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
That must have been a truly horrible night, false alarm and ready to kill her now or not. I'm so very glad she turned up (smug little brute). Next on the agenda: some photos, just in case. You might as well get something useful out of the experience.

[identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it was absolutely AWFUL. I've lost 2 cats in 2 years and I couldn't bear the thought of losing her.

Yes. Photos. Lots.

[identity profile] catsintheattic.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
My first thought was, "She doesn't mean *me*, does she?".

Lol. That's what strange nicknames lead us to believe. ;-)

Thank you!

I certainly will!

Every so often we can't find one of our little buggers either - it seems that when you most need them and invest every ounce of need in your voice, that's when they become perfectly still. After all, they might be HELD ACCOUNTABLE, or something.
