Just spotted this on [livejournal.com profile] babyotto's LJ - Converaspedia - Please tell me it's a spoof?

Conservapedia is an online resource and meeting place where we favor Christianity and America. Conservapedia has easy-to-use indexes to facilitate review of topics. You will much prefer using Conservapedia compared to Wikipedia if you want concise answers free of "political correctness".

Yes, because only Christian Americans use the internet.

England: A nation in northwest Europe. Largely secular, but increased immigration from Eastern Europe is turning the country towards Catholicism. Notable for inventing the English language.

Well, I'm glad we did something.  Even if it wasn't actually that.   Oh I'm SO going to have to join and write me some articles, boy. Yee hah.

And this is... so WRONG...

ETA;  I'm convinced it's a spoof now, as there is not create account function.

I'm surprised they didn't credit England with the invention of tea!

So wrong! I quite agree, though the CofE entry gave me a good laugh

Scarily-- it's not a spoof.

They had to disable comments because people were changing their entries and making fun of them. (And rightly so.)

Bah. And I was going to write a lovely article about how Jesus was a thinly veiled imitation of Harry Potter, too.

Conservapedia?

I'm glad it seems to be a spoof. Sadly, there are books/sites/etc. about this bad that are real. *shudders*

England comes off slightly better than France - at least you invented English. France thrived during the middle ages and that's about it.

And Germany is a country in central Europe that was blamed for both Wolrd Wars and claimed to be the dominate race of mankind

So they can't spell 'world', and Germany is a race. Right. Of course, I saw another post about this site that claimed that Hitler defeated Stalin, so I'm thinking their knowledge of history is a bit off.

I can't get the page to load, but these days in America, it's hard to tell whether something's a spoof or not. O_O

Oh, brother.

I can't get it to load either, but...holy cow. Free from political correctness? More like "free from anything that might spark questions of a strict set of social, political, and religious beliefs."

::SIGH::

It's not a spoof, but as the Making Light crowd were saying, what do you do when you all you have to do to parody them is quote their own words? Discussion here:

There are a LOT of people who believe this way. I was raised with a lot of this stuff.

Well, an Erastepedia...hmmm... no, can't be having that, you might set the Internets on fire. Links to juicy pictures of Greek pottery, and then there'd be excavated Roman walls from brothels, and satirical PHotoshops done on prominent but ridiculous politicians all the rest of us have to put up with. Heavens knows what might follow! Who knows what might blow up!
But on the other hand, we can't restrain you, either. You'd *like* that.
