I get rather Fagin-like when I've been to the library and returned with a haul.  I long to be rich simply so I can indulge myself in as many books as I want, and have a proper library with floor to ceiling  bookshelves.

Ok - so today's haul is:

Abhorsen by Garth Nix
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon
Silverfin by Charlie Higson
Temeraire by Naomi Novik
The Norfolk Broads by William Dutt (reference book)
Wintersmith by Sir Pterry
The Far Side of the World by Patrick O'Brian
Brynhild by H G Wells.

I'm very impressed with my library, even though it is the size of a garden shed, because the librarians know my name and my taste in books. I don't have to give my card in, before they are finding my reservations and giving me suggestions on other things I'd like.  However--I was vaguely shamed today when I asked why there were no reservation fees on some of my books when there were on others.  She said, very loudly, I might add... "Well, some of the the sort of books you like, are meant for chil...I mean, teenagers... and we don't charge for books for teenagers.  So you benefit by your reading preferences."

I left, feeling very embarrassed, sure that everyone else was chuckling.

Had a lovely email from P D Publishing with my latest royalty statement, which shows that Standish is--amazingly--selling as strongly now as when it first came out, and they said that it's still one of their best-sellers, which they are very grateful for. Me too!! They also sent presents to all their authors! I got pens and a USB flash drive, which i have no idea how to use! :)

Oh and btw - is no-one watching the Phase 2 Star Trek Webisodes? THEY ARE BRILLIANT!!!

So - I finished the Trollope and I did like it, for all its length and interminable slowness. As so little happened I can't really say anything about it, but the ending was a surprise. I'll probably try Trollope again, perhaps the Barchester Chronicles.

So "I went to the library and I got:"

I rather wonder what the Librarian thinks of me... )

*giggles*

Rather amusing range.

Anyone read? Anyone want to comment?
