Dr Who "Human Nature"
Jun. 2nd, 2007 09:02 pmI loved how Russell T Davies referred to Thomas Sangster as a "beautiful boy"... He might be 17 but he doesn't look it.
Marvellous episode(s). Made me cry at the end...John Smith deserved a better end - and I suppose he got one - I like the way the Tardis gave him his future, so in a way he knew he'd have been happy. *sniff *
The jolt at the end when the family realise that hiding from them was an act of MERCY on the Doctor's part was very chilling, and so perfectly in character, and I was so pleased that that was addressed but I was wondering bwuah? on the first episode, wondering why on earth the Doctor was having to hide from anyone. What he did to them was terrifying.
I also liked the small touches with the WW1 - that in drill Tim says that the Africans that they were supposedly firing at were only holding spears, and then when they attack the (simply terrifying) scarecrows the scarecrows actually die - which surprised me. And the boys were sobbing as they were firing at them, because they thought they were killing people. And John Smith didn't even fire. Big fat chicken.
I wish the Doctor had taken Tim with him though. *sulks* And would stop picking up random women. I hope they make some use of Tim in another episode as the Tardis seems to have got right into his head, and even RTD said "there's something a little bit doctory about Tim"
Oh and Evil Baines? Totally hot. Totally.

Date: 2007-06-03 02:12 pm (UTC)I still wish Martha would stop wanting him though. Why can't she just "love" him instead of LOVE him, you know? Although I thought the way they handled their conversation was brilliant - her saying "I'd have said anything, didn't really mean it" and him agreeing "well, of course" but then giving her a hug. Sort of summed that up nicely too; he knows she loves him and that he doesn't give her quite enough attention but that he's just never going to go there with her. MAYBE she'll accept that now and stop wibbling so much.
Okay, sorry. Babbling. I haven't watched the confidential yet so I'm gonna go do that. :-)

Date: 2007-06-03 02:30 pm (UTC)And yes, it would have been nice to have a companion who didn't LURVE him, specially after so few episodes. Very annoying.
Never mind - Jack's back soon, and if HE lurves him, I don't mind at all.
