DH SPOILERS  Transcript here
1, She's got an American Tour coming up, so it's all going to get worse and worse.

2. She makes it up as she bloody goes along.

3. Ron works for Weasley Wizard Wheezes now?  2 days ago he was working for the Ministry according to another interview. And I've never moaned about this before, but Wizard is very sexist.

4. Hermione's memory spells - 2 different charms. My ARSE.

5. So. Tom was EVIL because he entered this world through a non-consensual union.  Ooooo kay... so all children of loveless marriages, arranged weddings, rape and "tricks" are born evil?  Where does this fit in with "it is our choices that define us?

6. Chats are not canon, and I'll never consider them so.

7. If the stupid Homenem Revelio can show people hidden under cloaks etc then you'd think that people would have used it before. Lucius and Snape have both confronted Harry under the cloak.  It would be a Death Eater staple.

8. Death Eaters can't cast Patronus?  WTF?  If I were banged up in Azkaban, the first thing I'd do on release was learn the Patronus. Crap. Even differently good types have happy memories.  Umbridge can, for example - and she's as bad as Lucius.

9. Why do all the women get married? This is so unlikely. Is it because she was a single mother or something? Compensation?

10. I don't think she really understands the phenomemon that is Snape.  She obviously never liked him - I really can't think that she did.

11, Regulus is very very VERY bright. Brighter than the Trio, that's for sure.

12. Wasn't it previous canon that Parselmouths were VERY rare?  The idea of it suddenly being a learnable language is pretty stoopid, and backfilling.

13. How did Colin get back into Hogwarts - surely he didn't have a wand?

14. How did Dolohov kill a werewolf? JKR has already confirmed in another interview that only silver can kill one.

15. I think one of the things that really pisses me off is that one minutes she says that "not everyone finds love and pairs up" and then later she says that Krum (of course) found love back in his own country.

16:  This made me laugh out loud:
Lecanard: Will we see harry and his friends having their own history on chocolate frogs cards

J.K. Rowling: Definitely, and Ron will describe this as his finest hour.

Yeah - I can see Ron's card now.  "Ron Weasley. Once won a chess match. Was given a Put-Outer by Dumbledore (see Wizard Card 1) as Dumbledore thought it was the only way girls would ever put out for him."

17.  A little bit of my backstory was supported at least. "Bellatrix took a pureblood husband because that was what expected of her" e.g. Lucius's marriage was arranged. (he learned to respect and then to love Narcissa, even though his Great Love was Severus)

Gah.  I have many many many more things to say. I wish I could sit around a coffee table witha group of fans and tell him how bad I feel about all this.  Enough for now.

Tasty!

I am SO with you on the "makes it up as she goes along." Honestly, does the woman have a sieve for a memory? This interview stuff is crap; I noticed she backpedalled HARD on the "is Snape a hero" thing. She may have created Severus, but my GOD, the woman has NO understanding of him!!! The best character she ever came up with, and yet it's like she hates him. :( Grrrr....

Really, she has made me dislike the Trio more and more. And her attitudes on women, marriage, and children are so archaic as to be laughable. I wonder if she has one of those housekeeping books from the Fifties which tells women to make certain to put on a clean dress and do their hair and makeup before their husband gets home from work, and to not talk about problems around the house because he doesn't want to be bothered after a hard day at work. Oy.

:P

I was fairly disappointed with the way she handled Snape. This marvelous, layered character reduced to a walk-on in a Meatloaf video who'll "do anything for love". Grr.

And OMG there cannot be any gayness, noooo, God forbid. Everyone has to get married and pop out adorable babies named after Influential Figures.

Ron Weasley. Once won a chess match.

So you don't think him saving Harry's life and destroying a Horcrux would make it on there, then? *g*

*shrug* It's interesting to get all these snippets, but I've never been too worried about complying with canon beyond the books themselves.

That's what I'm thinking. Which, ha, what a great message to send to her young female fans. Also, I've noticed that if they don't marry their high school sweethearts, Something Bad happens. Bill/Fleur? He's scarred. Tonks/Lupin? They died. Things like that.

Oh, Jo. I used to respect you...

HA! That is my view entirely. I'm sorry Jo, but unless it's published in a book it isn't applicable to canon. Lord knows there are many, MANY, authors with volumes of back story who have never had the chance to share.

I also agree that she doesn't understand Snape's (or Draco's) popularity.

JKR is deliberately messing with our heads. And if she keeps changing her mind, we can only accept the books as canon.

I wonder if it's her Scottishness, more of a conservative background or something - or that when she started the whole LURVE arc (Love redeems, love helps with a patronus blah blah) when she was single.

One has very different views on love when one is single!

I'm beginning to wonder whether Snape IS marvellous and multilayered or whether it is only fandom that made him so. Perhaps all he ever was was a bitter unwashed git who regretted teh girl wot got away...

I can't explain how much I loathe the "naming your kids after the previous generation"

*shuddering*

Well, I guess. I was being a little facetious as usual, but it did annoy me just how Ron's importance had lessened.

No, I agree with you regarding the snippets, and I think the Lexicon takes the right approach when it comes to what is canon.

Exactly. Out of my class less than half of us have got married.

It's almost like teenager slasher movies. Have sex - you DIE!!!!

I think she's just so high with the whole "Oooo I'm a rock star" thing that she's not THINKING before she speaks - and she doesn't have someone sitting at her elbow who knows her world better than her.

I'm dreading her doing this "encyclopedia"

Nod nod. Even if she starts shoe-horning stuff in in this Encyclopedia she's planning, I'm ignoring it. I bet the Lexiconographers are thrilled to bits about that!

I stopped reading her intervies. One minute she says A and the next she says B. And both A and B are a load of crap most of the time. She annoys me. Can't even get her facts straight.

Death Eaters not able to cast a Patronus? Oh, for Christ's sake! That's just an easy way out.

And it's completely illogical. What do you need to cast a Patronus? A happy memory.

I'll bet those Death Eaters are full of happy memories. Take Bellatrix. Bet she was pretty happy when she tortured the Longbottoms into insanity, and I KNOW she was happy when she sent Sirius through the Veil. I bet she'd get a massively strong patronus from that memory.

What Rowling seems to fail to grasp is that evil people are happy about doing evil things and in fact, probably don't think they're evil at all.

Noooooo, she's from Chepstow!!!! Just hijacking this thread to say I agree with all your comments and I so want to sit in a group of DH sporkers with a bottle or several of something alcoholicy.

Hell yeah. We should have booked something for a month after release, we should have known it was going to be sporkable.

I'm still hoping to get over your way before long but we have haymaking just starting now so it won't be for a week or so. Dad is just finishing the last coupple of chapters of DH and I know he'd love to go and see OoTP soon somewhere nearish like Norwich.

I'll let you know when I eventually get my life in gear and travel across!

Stumbled by on my random wanderings across LJ - I enjoyed your fics way back when you were still [livejournal.com profile] underlucius. I hope you don't mind if I friend you. Lines like the above are why I wish to lurk in your journal :-)
