a bit of navel gazing
Apr. 15th, 2011 09:18 amPineapple upside down cake was disaster. My hand slipped when I put the baking powder in and it tasted of nothing but. a real shame because all the elements were good, caramelised pineapple and risen sponge, but nasty taste. I think Masterchef will have to wait a few years for me. *snort* I hasten to add that I only tasted a teaspoon of it.
I did 1349 words Yesterday!!!
Of the new 1940's bunny, not the I Knew Him. But I like what I did. The protagonist/antagonist? anti-hero, whatever is an interesting guy (to me) and I will be interested to see how he ended up doing what he does, and how his mind works like it does. I am drifting away from romance, again—and I am beginning to wonder if doing that is shooting myself in the foot. Romance is the best selling genre (I'm pretty sure, but don't know) in gay fiction and being a female and bisexual I'm already at a huge disadvantage in this genre that I love so much. But you have to write what you have to write, I suppose. Mere Mortals is borderline romance—the gothic mystery is of equal importance. I Knew Him has a love story as the most important part of it—being what drives the narrative—but whether it's a romance, I'm not sure. It certainly fulfils the RULES – there are two people who love each other and end up together but…well, you'll just have to see. It fulfils the rules, but it breaks 'em all too, in a way.
And the one I am writing now, which is tentatively called "Gentleman of Fortune" (or "in a shower of rain") – it's much more about the main character and what he does. It's an adventure story with a gay character I suppose, and will anyone be interested in that? I don't know.
Well that's enough of me being riddled with self doubt for one day I think. at least I'm writing. What I'd like to do—as I've said before, is to do one Romance – perhaps for Carina—and one book For Me.
Dragon age 2 arrived! I have a blond mage who looks a bit sad. *snort* But OMG it looks complicated. I shall have to read the manual. Not something I'm used to doing… I have a day off tomorrow, so I'll get stuck into then.
OK – off to dad's. have a good day, peeps.
