Is this the most conceited author in the entire universe? Hint to loonies:  If you really want me to accept your friend invitation, putting words like "I only respect those tho have read my work" and "I'm the best author in the universe" aren't going to entice me! However perhaps that's the way to behave to get your book made into a film!

My set top box has arrived!  lots of channels so I have more reason to moan about there being nothing on. :D  Amazingly easy to connect even if they didn't provide a Scart cable and didn't say that you needed one when I ordered it!!  However, luckily I had a spare.

And I HAD to icon this picture!!... LOL Hook.

That's an interesting assertion he's making...has he read everything in the Universe? Including the Lost Library of Gallifrey? No? Then he needs to shut his self-absorbed, narcissistic pie-hole, methinks...

Actually, methinks he is a general offence and every man should beat him... :)

You have to be his friend just to read his blog! I emailed me and said, in Lizzy Bennet fashion that I was sensible of the honour he did me by inviting me to be his friend, but on reflection, as he could NOT have any respect for me - seeing as how I hadn't read his book - I couldn't accept.

I liked the quotes on the back of the book, comparable to someone else I've never heard of
I read a lot, and I've never heard of him, the people he's compared to or the magazines that made the reviews except for the one that called him pretentious.

you know, I'm always saying that part of being an author is having a great big pair of brass cojones, just to believe in yourself when no one else will, and that you need to be cheeky, but this is - wow!
all i can think is Wanker!
you know I might have read his book if his blog wasn't all "I LOVE ME! NO REALLY! I LOVE ME! ME ME ME ME ME! oh and i wrote a book, BUT LOVE ME! you're all mentally retarded because you haven't read MY book, LOVE ME!"
my back is up and I'm instantly put off. good work man

LOL! What a twat!

I showed his comments to my partner.

He says:

I write for myself -- and for no one else besides, no one else who is alive. The immediate public does not interest me in the slightest. I write for a readership that does not yet exist -- a future readership, an ideal readership. I write for readers who have not yet been born.

She says:

In other words, no one will actually read his book here and now.

He says:
My novels are not novels of plot or character.

She says:
In fact, his books have nothing to recommend them at all.

He says:

It is the destiny of every genuine writer to be misinterpreted during his or her lifetime.

She says:
And happily forgotten after they die!

She had me laughing so hard, I about peed my pants. Thought you might get a kick out of it too.

i looked him up on amazon because I'm writing and any skive in a storm and the reviews are all good but you go to the forum and it clearly states the reviews are all fakes, that the writer is a jerk

Someone on amazon put it better than i could myself,
If you have read "Watch Out," you will know that it is not an insult to say that Dr. Joe likes poop. his book is full of it. and I don't mean like his book is crap (it is), but I mean like he writes about actual poop. A lot.
there's an irony there

Oh, I got one from him too, on myspace :) He'd disabled messages and I couldn't comment to tell him that he was a git without friending him first - which I wasn't prepared to do - so I just marked him down as spam.

Best author in the universe? That's a pretty big place, the whole universe. I've never read any of this guy's stuff (or ever heard of him) but I'd be willing to bet there's proto-organic slime on Mars that writes better.

Hee, I wonder if this is intended as satire? I mean, his book is about "a man who falls in love with himself, literally," and the cover image of meat is a bit much.

The only author I have ever imitated, the only author I have ever emulated, the only author I have ever striven to become is Dr. (Name Redacted).

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Well, if I emulate his example and only strive to become myself, then I'm already there! Presto! No further growth as a writer required! It doesn't surprise me that his "masterpiece" is about a guy who falls in love with himself.

I sincerely hope the whole profile is a joke...

Haha! To be honest, his profile reminds me of some of the loonier ff.net profiles I've seen over the years.

Also: his book about a bloke who falls passionately in love with himself, and somewhere on there he (the author) says "Would like to meet: my clone". I hear the Gary Stu bells chiming!

This guy friended me on Myspace as well. I think it's a a great hoax. Something to do with a promotion of his film or something. I added him to my friends list because, after watching the trailer of the film - a comedy about a guy who is only turned on by himself, I thought he was legit and not just some crazy hack. After all, making a film costs a wee bit more than self-publshing, so he must've convinced some backers that he had something to say. Anyhow, whatever.

Ah. Viral advertising? I figured the 'award-winning filmmaker' was somebody who won Best in Show at some film-school show-and-tell. It didn't make me want to read the book or see the film--more like a repellent.
