So I just heard through the grapevine that Star Crossed Productions are going to be the exclusive suppliers of PD Publishing's ebooks.  While I'm happy that Standish will be available to those who have waited patiently for it to be in ebook (notwithstanding my reservations about piracy) I'm a little concerned that SCP are a LESBIAN bookseller and advertise themselves as such.  I can't see that anyone is going to hunt for gay male historical fiction on a lesbian site, nor are they very likely to snap it up if they fell upon it by accident. Anyway, I've voiced my concern to PD Publishing, even if it seems to be a done deal...

I have a bit of a headache today. Hope to god I can do my word count or tharain will be after me with that bull-whip...

I just realised that I called my dead lieutenant James Pearson.  Completely by accident.  I picked the surname and the Christian name randomly off the Navy Lists.  However - it has to be changed. Now. canaries_chick knows why. It's the name of one of the solicitors at Steeles!  argh!!!

Hey at least it will be available in e-book format regardless of the publisher. I have been trying to reduce the number of print books I buy b/c of lack of space (the bookshelves are now almost falling over they are so full no matter how much I cull the books)and environmental concerns. I hear what you're saying about piracy, but if every author and publisher felt that way there would not be a huge, thriving and ever expanding industry for electronic books.

Just post to your site when Standish is available for purchase in e-book format and people like me will flock to Star Crossed Productions - hope the name is not prophetic :)

And yet PD seems to be publishing more and more M/M written by women (and even a F/F title written by a man!) Perhaps SCP are broadening the scope of their operations?

Are the e-book titles going to be available through the PD site or Amazon, or will readers have to go exclusively to the SCP site?

I don't think the publisher's specialty will matter, if you get word out that Standish is in e-book format now. I hope they're doing Kindle as well--not that I like Amazon, but they've got a huge promo machine and that would sell a lot of copies.

PD have clarified and say that SCP are planning to expand their range. I think they will only be available on the site, but I'll let you know when I know more...

If somebody googles for you as an author or Standish by name, it won't matter who the publisher is. If they're serious about selling downloads, they've got to be dealing with some of the bigger vendors... or at least thinking about it. But either way, I'll bet you see a happy blip on your royalty radar next quarter.

Will Marshall's last name is the first name of a friend's gay son, and William was just a nice, solid English name. Then someone pointed out that Patrick O'Brian's gay navigator was named WM, and there was a very famous English k-niget also by that name.

But, you know -- "Erastes" never worked for that company and I'd bet the gentleman in question doesn't read gay romance. Makes perfect sense that you'd change it, but what are the odds he'd ever have known?
