Dan: 31/07/1974 - 26/01/2009
Jan. 26th, 2009 03:42 pmprobably would have never met him, if he hadn't been snatched away from us at the criminally young age of 34 by cancer, but I'd known him for more years than I can recall. He joined my LJ when I was underlucius, and followed me over here when I moved.
He was incredibly brave, deciding to suffer his cancer, fighting it every step of the way, online, sharing with his friends every step of the journey. It couldn't have been easy to do, to admit the pain and the way his body was letting him down. "In my head, I still look this way." he said.
He made it through Christmas and he was jubilant about it. His last post was typical Dan "Dear America, Welcome back mate, so you guys wanna hang out? love OZ "
I know what his friends and family are going through, and like them, I will miss him, horribly. He slipped away in his sleep, it seems, so at least he was spared much pain. A few days ago he woke, told his doctors to fuck off and said he was going home. *laughs* He'll be so furious he missed the release of The Watchmen. Don't worry, cobber. I'm told they ruined it. We'll all watch it and we'll let you know how it was, all right? When I watch it, I'll be thinking of you and sharing a beer.

Date: 2009-01-26 05:20 pm (UTC)I hope he is at peace. I would like to say something better, but these are the times when words tend to desert me.
Much love to you, regardless xx

Date: 2009-01-27 10:34 am (UTC)I love that he was watching tennis just before he died, and that Sam and Nick were there, and as you said - kept his humour right to the end. I wish I'd met him. I cried buckets too.

Date: 2009-01-27 05:38 pm (UTC)This is such a wonderful tribute. I never had the pleasure of visiting danxsunday's LJ but he sounds like such a great person. I'm sure that like you, all of his friends are grieving today. He sounds like someone who appreciated life so I'm sure he would want his friends to celebrate his life instead.
