How Fabulous! and a petition
Jun. 9th, 2009 08:23 pmOdeon are doing big events at the cinema – Aida, Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival – Phedre live(ee) What a wonderful idea and a great use of technology.
Annoyingly of course, Norwich isn’t in the list of selected cinemas for this, but I live in hope.
I’ve just fired off a letter to the Council Tax department – as I saw a thing on the TV this morning about how many houses are in a higher tax band than they need to be, so I checked online and lo and behold half of the houses in the street are in Band B (mine is) and half are in Band A. (which is the cheaper one) I was under the impression that all council and ex-council houses should be in Band A, and as my house hasn’t been changed or added to, unlike a lot of others, I think it definitely needs regrading. All I can do is ask – they can only say no, and if they say yes, I’ll get a nice fat rebate, hurrah!
I went to see Night at the Museum 2 last week and it was … well, enjoyable – but it didn’t hit my funny bone in the same way that the original did – as is so often the way. We are going to see the new Terminator film this week – this is canary chick’s choice, which is hilarious. I’ve corrupted her, she used to glaze over at the very mention of sci-fi.
New series of Chuck tonight!
PETITION FOR WEDDINGS IN RELIGIOUS BUILDINGS IN THE UK
Currently civil partnerships are not permissible in religious buildings or buildings used primarily for religious purposes. Some faith groups are open to civil partnerships but are unable to perform legal partnership ceremonies under the current restrictions. This provides the churches the freedom to decide for themselves.
