1. Ianto being all heroic - he's really improved from the tea-tray carrying butler. If you haven't listened to "Dead Line" - one of the BBC Torchwood radio programmes (only one day left to listen) you really need to, as there's a Ianto and Jack arc there that will cause you to weep buckets.

2. Gwen being much more police-womany and less shippy.

3. Rhys. I can't express my love adequately for Rhys.

4. People are real. They are chubby, pale, wobbly, stupid, petty, messy, idiotic (Rhys packing a book to go on the run)

5. It's much more like Dr Who was when I was a kid. If they'd split it into 30 min segments and then over 10 weeks, I'd be in heaven. But then it wouldn't be in Prime Time would it.

6. THERE'S A QUARRY!!!!! OH BLISS!

7. When Gwen attacks the guy in the ambulance, there's a sign up saying "There's an ambulance crew attacked every day" CHORTLE!!!

8. The council estate where Ianto's sister lives, and they way they deal with the snoopers.

9. Gwen being pleased about the baby, when she'd been so anti up to now.

10. And the line: "I'm a PA, it's what I do." CLASS.

Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today!

I really enjoyed Dead Line. I need to give it another listen.

2. Gwen being much more police-womany and less shippy.
My friend called her the Welsh Lara Croft. She kicked arse!

4. People are real. They are chubby, pale, wobbly, stupid, petty, messy, idiotic (Rhys packing a book to go on the run)
And hungry! And sometimes pie and chips is more important than planning the raid on the impenetrable military base. I liked that, because too often in action stories people chrage around without food or sleep for days at a time without any apparent ill effects.

6. THERE'S A QUARRY!!!!! OH BLISS!
Can't have British sci-fi without a quarry. And of course it was totally lampshaded and used entirely as a quarry.

8. The council estate where Ianto's sister lives, and they way they deal with the snoopers.

"Ma'am, there's a slight problem here, we're being attacked by chavs!"

I'm loving it too. Only thing that made me go "hmmmm" was Ianto saying "It's not men. It's just him." Possibly because I see too much of that in slash and it can come over as "I'm sleeping with this guy but I'm not one of those dirty fags!" Yuk.

But I'll give RTD the benefit of the doubt, since he seems to sincerely believe in that idea (thinking of 'Bob and Rose') and anyway, clearly Jack and his super-sexy 51st century pheremones could turn anyone!

Yes! Pie and chips. Loved that, too.

And Rhys: "it's all got to change"
"no, nothing's got to change"
"I'm not having you doing all this mad stuff"
"I let you carry my bag!"

I'm not convincd with the "gay (or non-gay) for you" but I'll take the word of gay men, who must have some experience of that..Although I'd call it bisexuality.

And I suppose Ianto is still dealing with it all, processing this whole thing with Jack. He might believe that "It's just him" thing. He might not have come fully to terms with being bisexual yet. Jack is a man who can throw your whole world into confusion.

That came up in one of the Torchwood novelizations, where Ianto snaps at Gwen for assuming that being bi is easy, the best of all worlds. I don't know how much people count the novels vs. radio plays as canon, but it did give me the impression that Ianto's just not all that easy with the lack of definition. But I think that has more to do with him being ... hyper-organized and prone to compartmentalization than icky fags.

Where could I possibly find this Dead Line? **hopeful face**

Rhys packing a book to go on the run

If called upon to go on the run, I probably would. I'm that kind of idiot.

I could see that. Ianto does like things all neat and tidy and easily labelled.

Dead Line is only available to download from the BBC site if you're in the UK. I expect someone will put it on YouTube or something, though the beeb is hot on getting that stuff taken down quickly.

1. But it was soooo sweet that he was all scared and jumpy after the explosion! :D
2. Yep. Finally.
3. Well, he used to annoy me but does so now much less frequently.
4. Abso-bloody-lutely!
5. Nah. *wants it all now!*
6. You know, it was only when reading this that I realised how prominent quarries have been in British sci-fi! :D
7. Bloody hell! I totally missed this! *cracks up*
8. Oh, yes!
9. You know, I'm sure they've done that before - was it Gwen and Rhys getting engaged?
10. Fantastic. *nods*

When they were running around fethcing clothes and keys I briefly though about what I would take with me on the run.
My second thought (after money) was a book. *facepalm*

A) I agree to all of these. (Children of the Earth = Well worth the horrific wait).

B) Where would one find "The Dead Line"? I've been hearing about it all over, but I can't for the life of me actually find the recording. Help?

I really hope we get this on BBC America. Yes, I can watch online, but it's not the same. :(

BTW, I'm 10% done with my rewrite. Okay, not exactly time to pop the cork on the champagne, but it's progress, finally.

I have to say I watch almost nothing on the tv any more - I love online! Our tv is so dismal, I can find all the US shows were are likely to never get!

Well done with the rewrite - keep it up, girl!

I've finally caught up, and a resounding YES to everything! And I've downloaded 'Dead Line' to listen to later.

Rhys packing a book made me immediately realise that I'd pack my laptop and probably about three books if I were going on the run...

Just...everything about these three episodes. LOVE.
