So, I had a nice visit with dad, we ate at The Bluebell which is a lovely little coaching inn in North Walsham  - although as you can see it's so "moderninsed" you couldn't tell how old it is!  I hate that.  But they do lovely lovely food. However there was the same noisy 3 generation family there there was last time we went, who were unable to just talk but had to bellow the entire time and the kids were appalling, running round and round the tables while the parents ignored them. Why should they worry?  The rest of the diners were babysitting for them!

Then at 3 I went to leave, drove a couple of miles and the exhaust of the car broke off. THANK GOD it wasn't ten miles down the road.  And OF COURSE it's always 1. on a sunday and 2. on a day when your phone is completely out of charge.  I have said before I'm sure that I vow NEVER to get into the car without a fully charged mobile but of course today was a day when I didn't.  NEVER again. It's not worth the risk.  I have breakdown assistance, but what's the bloody point if you can't ring them?  Anyway had to walk back to dad's which was HELL as my mobility is just about zero. Walk 20 paces, stop. and so on.  Finally got to a shop where they didn't have a payphone (WHY?? WHY did the payphones go?) but the nice young man(!) in the shop let me use his mobile. But Dad was out - walking Aslan.  I knew he'd gone to the park so I sat on the corner bench and hoped he'd drive past - and he did!  Now, this is a man who up until recently thought he was going deaf.  He heard me shout over the AC in the car, over the engine noise, with the windows mostly rolled up!!! Nothing wrong with his hearing!

OK - back to Dad's and he plies with me chilled orange drinks while I cool down and try and ring the AA - for some bizarre reason ALL of their numbers were engaged, so had to eventually ring the operator, and they got me through straight away. Stress stress.  Because I wasn't alone in the car and vulnerable they took about an hour to turn up and temporarily fixed the car - with a bit of STRING.  I could have bloody done that!!! (Note to self. Always have string in the car)  Then Dad drove behind me all the way home, with me sounding like a boy racer in a souped up V8 car. It was funny to see people turn to look at the muscle car which must be coming and finding the little Nissan....

Anyway. Home and exhausted.  I have fizzy wine.  AND THANK GOD FOR IT!!!!!!

Ok – I admit it. I finally see the McKay/Shep. I’d not seen SGA before other than one episode when series one was on UK TV, and then they stopped showing it and so last night I started watching it on STC.  Yes, I can see it.  All right. You win. Rodney certainly seems to worry about John a LOT, even though he’s only just met him. :D

The romance studio changed my winning Amazon voucher to the UK (thank you, Tina, I know I’m a pain) and I got a great Belkin laptop bag for £8, and a couple of PC games.  Gift vouchers are nice. :) Yes. No books. Have you seen my house?

What’s with a good few of people on my flist using different fonts and larger sizes, coloured inks, highlighting and generally annoying stuff?  Stop it please! Or at least use a bloody cut. Grumpity.

OK WINE NOW!!!!!

What a dreadful day. I just cracked open a bottle of Viognier, have a glass. Have two. ^_^ Now I wish I had the fizzy stuff!

I *LOVE* your icon. Donald was always my favourite.

Oh and I don't have it on my flist much, but my fiction filter is filled with posts that I can't read; all sorts of strangeness with the text. Very off-putting.

As long as you still managed to string that bow...!

It's a skill now honed for opening five pouches of whiskas in very short succession without being jumped on or yelled at or anything being knocked off the side and broken. Same skill set. I bet Odysseus couldn't do it better.

Sorry to disappoint, but they're both apparently straight as dies. Hard to credit, I know...

Have this pair instead.

Bah. I've heard that before.

Yes, I'm in my knickers and I'm touching him inapporpriately and grinning, but of course this doesn't make me at all gay/bisexual. Doing it once really doesn't count.

at all.

I'm not letting Barrowboy in my house. I have nice shoes. Just because I can't get my swollen feet into them anymore doesn't mean he can nick them.

They would say they were coerced into doing it (this was part of a Dieux du Stade shoot). Have a real gay rugby bloke.

He'd love your white stilettos, gal.

I have the Monroe/Grable type pic of him as my new PC background and I'm keeping it until hubby asks "Who's that woman?"

I remember when Freixinet was first introduced to the US, way back in *mumbles*.

Nobody knew how to pronounce it (probably still don't.)

Very good sparkling wine (though I've never tried the pink. I like the blush on my boys, not on my wine.)

Good God! What a horrific odyssey!
Glad you are home and marinating nicely in wine. :)

Very marinated! The funny thing is i have a tower fan which pumps out cool air pouring on me to help me cool down (not an AC) and the cats keep trying to come and have a cuddle and decide they don't want to brave the blowy air and bugger off elsewhere. Chickens.

It tastes just the blooming same in my opinion.

There's no point coming to me to ask me for hints of elderflower, raspberries, creosote and jasmine.

It tastes like grapes. A bit. Fermented grapes.

I'm rather with you on that. Either I like it or I don't. I leave the rhapsodic descriptions to others who aren't bored to death by such things.

I *do* tend to like my wines, red or white, on the dry side, however. Most "blushes" I've tried tend to be a bit sweeter.

this might be worth a try, then. I prefer a dry cava - although to be honest, if it's cheap, I'll drink any cava. but it's definetly dry.

Cats lurve to come sit on you and have a cuddle when you're overheated and exhausted--oooh, the warm!--with the worst possible timing, of course. A fan seems to me to be the only reasonable self-defense. And so sorry about the car marathon, glad your dad heard you!

I know. I'm ashamed.

I even did the Jilly Goolden wine thing a few years ago and she's going "meadowsweet. guava. satsuma." and I'm going "water. fizz. fruit."
