The wireless connection is still very patchy at Dad’s, it’s baffling. Sometimes I’m connected straight away and for hours, then all of a sudden the connection will go and I simply cannot get back on again. CANNOT get on today, so all this has been written during the day and will be posted when i get home tonight. ETA: MANAGED TO GET posted! coo!

I’m reposting my thoughts on words and etymology etc on The Macaronis today, (when I get connected that is). If. Bah. ETA:  DONE.

Dad is a lot more cheerful today; yesterday i was almost despairing at how miserable he was, but he’s happy, whistling and reading the paper. It’s the Jekyll and Hyde aspect I can’t cope with. One minute he’s fine, and then it’s like a black cloud rests over his head. It’s 2.30 now, so hopefully we can surf along with the happy mood until five. I’d been fussing about what he was eating too, he’s got very picky recently – seems to live entirely on chocolate biscuits, and when I tell him this he gets annoyed and denies that he’s eating a packet a day. Sigh. Then I thought – hells bells, he’s 82. Let him eat what he wants.

Book not moving very well over last couple of days – partly due to Dad’s moodiness – but mainly due to my inability to see where it goes from here. I have an idea of what to do with it, but not convinced I can pull it off. Suppose I’ll just have to try and see! (Yoda immediately pops into my head and says “do or not do, there is no try” and I pop him one on the little green nose.) However – did my 1000 words today, so things aren’t that bad. Project at 17500 words. Will have a bottle of fizzy wine at 20k.

Does anyone play MGS4 online? I really want to give it a go, but am terrified to do it, because will be an obvious Noob and will not only die but will cause the deaths of everyone in the platoon. Has anyone tried it? Is it uber competitive? Are they likely to give a person a break?

As to your father's moods, the good and bad part is that he will have forgotten about it long before you do. It really is (unless it's a sign of some worsening symptom) something that is passing.

That's true - (and thank you) - the couple of times when I've had to leave because he gets annoyed with me, I know that by the time I've got home, he won't remember, and I make a point of ringing him up and talking to him and sure enough he's forgotten all around it.

The situation with your father sounds quite enormously frustrating. I'm so very sorry.

What's MGS4? (As you can tell, I've never heard of it.)

Well, I didn't elaborate as those who would know, would know, if you get me - metal gear solid four.

Have you noticed any correlation between your dad's diet and his moods? I know if I noshed a whole pile of chocolate/sugar treats, I'd have an hour so of Happy Daze and then a blood-sugar crash. A little protein amongst the biscuits might help, and probably couldn't hurt. (I know, getting anyone to eat something he doesn't want is always great fun.. sorry.)
