Ok. The Agent I'd forgotten I'd queried has asked for a partial.

*shakes in fear*  Guess what I'm going to be doing this weekend?

And I found a lovely "new" (to me)  book!  Bisexual Regency Romance!

 by Ann Herendeen

*squeeful*  It looks promising, and I like the historical background stuff on her webpages.  I notice that several people I know have already read it, so I'm looking forward to getting it.

*adds to Gay Historical Fiction List *

Okay, I just bought it. I hope it comes soon, because her notes on the Amazon page sounded really really delightful!

Yay!

I know it doesn't mean much, but it's one step further than I've ever been before with an agent...

Thanks you hun

Good luck with that! Is the agent in the UK or US? Have you dealt with an agent before? I'm thinking of trying that route when (if)I ever get Counterpoint finished.

I had an agent years ago but nothing came of it. Of course, in all honest, at that time my writing wasn't very good. OK, complete disclosure: it sucked.

I'm sure you'll keep us all posted.

Great news, with the request for a partial.

I tried that Philander novel, based on reviews. Will look forward to your comments.

US - I have no distributor in the UK (yet) and I'm hoping that a US agent (they are in NYNY and aren't on the black list..) would be able to help on both sides of the Atlantic...

Yes, I know that they don't always do a lot, but I travel hopefully - as you know! *G*

I refuse to believe your writing sucked.

*crosses fingers for you* I have only recently completed a writing course which basically ended in "finding an agent is damn near impossible", so I know what a big deal this is. Good luck! x

I'm getting such dejavu reading your posts. :) Same thing happened to me, regarding the agent who mailed you out of the blue (because circumstances had changed in the agency), and I wouldn't be surprised if we are speaking of the same agent. I got so anxious, I was changing little things even after I started printing the partial and finally had to make myself quit and just print it and mail it.
Faint signs of interest from agents and/or editors are as nerve-wracking as rejections, but in a better way.
Am curious about your book now and going to go check it out on Amazon. I wish you all the luck with the agent.

Good luck with the agent!!--and let me know what you think of Phyllida. I'd seen the book but haven't read it yet.

It's annoying in a way because it's not so much the selling of Transgressions I need help with - although I'd be delighted if they could sell it to someone big of course - it's the sub-marketing they could do for Standish, English publisher, tv, film, serial rights, book signings, etc.. I would like to send them a copy of the book too, but you've got to play by their rules. But yes, it's exciting to at least get this far!

Thank 'ee!

Thank you hun! Did you see that on the page for that book (on Amazon) she's plugging Ransom for you?

Gad, no! I'll have to get her book, then--she obviously has good taste (snerk).

Who's the cute little Bitchin' Frizzie in your icon?
