Men need Romance Too.
Apr. 29th, 2007 05:49 pmI'm blogging over on "Isn't It Romantic" today, the lovely blog run by
elisa_rolle and
naanbld. I've posted an article on how pleased I am that men are reading and loving gay romantic fiction. Come over and discuss!
it is romantic
Date: 2007-04-29 09:34 pm (UTC)I think that sites like Torquere Press are proving to the more faint-hearted publishers that there is an audience for gay romance novels. Personally, I've always thought that the amount of slash fiction online ought to have proved that fact long, long ago. :) But apparently publishers and agents need a lot of convincing. I had one agent respond to a query with, "gay fiction is extremely difficult to sell, so I'm passing on this". It may have been her polite way of saying my writing sucked, but it was discouraging either way.
When writers who have published and are getting positive feedback from male and female readers both then post about their experiences, it really does give a boost to the rest of us. Thanks for that.

to participate in Romantic Times Forums, (which I haven't been doing recently) to go to conventions, to do articles whereever and whenever you can.
I wish I could galvanise the fanfic communites to sign a petition to let the publishers know how many people there are out there.
