Oh unbelievable. I've been doing cheques for the Inland Revenue for like FOREVER - made out to "inland revenue " with the reference number they insist on. She checks the post and notes that now they want HM Customs & Excise Only Plus reference number - so I say - "don't worry, they always pass them, I'll do the next one with HMC&E" but no. she has to go and check with Smug Git and SG tells her to ring the Revenue to check.

Just in case *I* am wrong. Talk about mountain - molehill.

And guess what. "No worries, mate" the IR said. "We accept either."
