Aug. 15th, 2007 05:13 pmWoot! Productive Erastes! Or perhaps over-productive Erastes.
Just finished "Hard & Fast" - a novella which I'm writing for a Sooper Sekrit project that I can't talk about yet, and sent it off to my co-conspirators. Those of you who have been keeping awake will remember that my protagonist is a wordy bugger and he's pushed the project up to 27,000 words. Hmm. I hope they like it, because it's very Regency (I hope) and not everyone's cuppa Lapsang Souchon. No Jargon though. I found lots of sites full of Jargon, because this is set in The Ton and would allow me to write all sorts of crap but I restrained myself. Geoffrey's been fighting in the wars since he was old enough to get himself killed and he's NOT a social butterfly and Adam is a bit of misfit - and crippled - I even refrained from bunging the phrase "the ton" in to show my readers that I knew my stuff. Hee. The Regency brigade will be confiscating my membership badge and snapping my quizzing glass in half. Here's hoping. :)
So - right now I have... *thinks* One novel, two novellas and one short story in limbo waiting for acceptances, and I need to write two more short stories by t'end of month. Then I can get back to Junction X which has been neglected for far too long. It's about a 17 year old boy having sex with a 35 year old man btw 6A, in case you are interested. No pictures though. (sadly)
I have been spending FAR too much time on LOLCats in the last couple of days. What a brilliant brilliant site.

Date: 2007-08-15 05:47 pm (UTC)Are you aware of Georgette Heyer's A Civil Contract, which has a crippled Regency character called Adam who was injured in the Napoleonic wars (I am very fond of the heroine Jenny in that book, but that's by the by)?
Hee, I have published friends with BOOKS out. *unnecessarily over-excited*
My book is waiting for corrections before being re-submitted, and I've foolishly just submitted 2 more short stories, so I'm waiting on 4 S.S. at the moment and hold out hopes for.... um, none of them, actually :)
Oh, and for the record, I think my partner was 34 when we started getting together - I was 17...

Date: 2007-08-15 07:34 pm (UTC)No - I've only read one Heyer, so this is a complete co-incidence, thank Gawd. Plus he's crippled by birth (club foot) and never went to war, so that's not too bad.
Good luck with the submissions, you bad bad person!!
