RW Day sent me an email this morning with the news that JKR has been seen in Edinburgh Cafes writing a crime novel. This seems rather much to smack of a publicity stunt (if true, but I have no reason to doubt the eminent Mr Rankin) as it seems unlikely she wouldn't get mobbed.

That aside I have to sniggersnort behind my hand at the very thought of her trying the genre, as she doesn't EXACTLY have a class reputation for canon consistency

"'Ello 'ello 'ello, what's goin' on 'ere, then."

"Oh, thank goodness you've come, officer, my handbag's been stolen."

"You'd better give me some details, miss."

"A man with a a knife came out of that sidestreet and swiped it."

"Did you see what he looked like?"

"He was tall and had black hair, and a very distinctive mole on his left cheek."

"What was he wearing?"

"Jeans, tee-shirt and a balaclava. He waved his gun at me and ripped my rucksack out of my hand."

And so on. *headdesk* Seeing as how George's ear seems to have grown back by the time of Muriels Wedding, and Relashio seems to do something different every time it's cast -anything is possible....

How can you see a persone writing something? You peers from her shoulder and read what she writes? Or she wears a signal saying "I'm writing a crime novel"?

OKay - two things. How did they know what she was writing, and why the fuck was she doing it in the middle of a cafe in Edinburgh (which is not the most convenient place to read, let alone write)?

*LOL* So far, I have escaped the mind of JKR. My appreciation of fantasy does not seem to stretch in that particular direction. And yes, I agree with an earlier post you made...which I don't think I replied to...about her being deemed as beyond criticism. Not having read her books but have gleaned the jist by films and other readers' opinions..I know enough not to read myself, lol. But yes, some are in total *shockhorror* if one even attempts to say anything which is not in praise of etc etc blah blah.

Was she wearing a sandwich board too?
