Aug. 20th, 2007 12:00 pmRW Day sent me an email this morning with the news that JKR has been seen in Edinburgh Cafes writing a crime novel. This seems rather much to smack of a publicity stunt (if true, but I have no reason to doubt the eminent Mr Rankin) as it seems unlikely she wouldn't get mobbed.
That aside I have to sniggersnort behind my hand at the very thought of her trying the genre, as she doesn't EXACTLY have a class reputation for canon consistency
"'Ello 'ello 'ello, what's goin' on 'ere, then."
"Oh, thank goodness you've come, officer, my handbag's been stolen."
"You'd better give me some details, miss."
"A man with a a knife came out of that sidestreet and swiped it."
"Did you see what he looked like?"
"He was tall and had black hair, and a very distinctive mole on his left cheek."
"What was he wearing?"
"Jeans, tee-shirt and a balaclava. He waved his gun at me and ripped my rucksack out of my hand."
And so on. *headdesk* Seeing as how George's ear seems to have grown back by the time of Muriels Wedding, and Relashio seems to do something different every time it's cast -anything is possible....

I have yet to read the last Harry book, I just can't steel myself.
