Isaac cleaned up isn't half as cute as drugged up Isaac.

I really liked the waitress. I hope Hiro gets to do something.

Claire's dad cares about her. That's nice!!

Is Mohindra ever going to be intergral? Or be forever annoying?

I am now fixated at the way Andro's ears go up when he smiles.

Shall I tell what I dislike intensely?  When someone asks ME if I would beta a story for them, and then when I do, (and I spend a lot of time and effort and research over it) and send it back I get no acknowledgment, no thanks, no NOTHING. And then when she sells it, nothing either.  I LIKE beta-ing. I don't do a lot of it and anyone who knows me knows my punctuation SUCKS but I can brit pick as well as anyone.  I like helping others. And there's nothing that discourages me from never helping anyone ever again as not even being thanked.  Grump Grump Grump

And finally:

Just for the grump.

Decimate. Know what this means, Authors.  Look it up. It's a horrible horrible Roman punishment and it doesn't mean "to wipe out."

Free Reign. No Reigns are free, and you don't give anyone free reign over anything. Really. You don't. It's a horsey term. See Dressage.

Insure. You don't insure that something is done.  You ENSURE it.

(is totally giggling at the words)

I once saw "mellow drama" as in "I'm tired of your mellow drama." I nearly choked.

That sucks that you didn't get credit. Some people are rude and suck.

argh!!

that's a WONDERFUL phrase - i may have to steal if. In real writing that might actually work!!

credit I can do without. A simple "thanks" would have been nice, specially as it sold.

I've only beta'd fanfic, but even there it's nice to get even a 'thanks!' back. I excel at SPAG and am good at Britpicking, and I'm working to get better at plot-hole grouting. It has, on occasion, pleased me immensely when an innocent comment I've made about plot (along the lines of "this bit of plot doesn't seem to be going anywhere, why not?") has made a writer tear her hair out and do a rewrite that results in a much better story.

Have you been reading The Times this week? They're doing a whole series on words and language.

Nod, just a "thanks" is nice. Perhaps the email got lost, but ...

Consequently I don't know whether any of my picks were even taken on board - there were several large time line errors in the accuracy.

I suppose the worst thing is if you get credited and the errors are still there! That happened to me often in fandom and I'd hide under the sofa.

Is it also on line? I don't get a paper.

Oh, that's right -- you Brits are finally getting to see Heroes! You've got tons of thrills and heartbreak in store!

And I'm sitting here rubbing my hands together and cackling with glee because I just picked up my DVD's of the first season. Guess what I'm doing this weekend? *cackle*

I've seen "decimate" used correctly, like, once.

Hello!

Yes. It's extremely annoying. I remember learning about it in school and thinking what a dreadful punishment it must have been - and how to use it for a term to wipe everyone out makes it completely lose its impact

The Master used it correctly (and, I recall, actually defined it) in the last couple of episodes of the latest Doctor Who season.

I don't think I saw that episode last night, Erastes! You must be able to get digital where you are! The one I saw was the one where we first met the would-be politician's (the older brother's) wife. Hiro was great though - in the car fire thing!!

Ooops Sorry hun, I should have put that under a cut, but I haven't really spoiled anything I think

No-one at work is watching it (boring sods) so I get frustrated not being able to talk about it with anyone.

This makes me yearn for Season Two.

That sucks, on the beta thing. I don't understand where people were taught manners.

Oh, BTW, I finally found out the meaning 'erastes' today, while researching Dionysus on Wikipedia.

"irregardless" is my pet peeve. I've never actually seen 'decimate' used properly, except in a textbook of Rome.

I'm already in withdrawal because when S1 finishes, GAWD alone knows when we'll get S2...

Manners? In fiction land? Hah. I think we should all carry swords. That'd make people more polite.

"acknowledge my hard work, you CAD or I shall run you through!"

Very similar to us and Dr. Who.

Egads, I long for Chris Eccleston.

Ungrateful betaees should be strung up by their buts.

'Betas' who don't want the slightest questioning of their opinion, even when it appears to be based on a very cursory reading of the text, are also pissing me off. Especially those who don't tell me to my face I've apparently offended them, but use their position on my flist to slam me in their journals. Seriously - whatever happened to manners?

Can't believe people can be so damn... arg, I'll stop now.

Hope you have sent her/him/it a nice mail, saying how much you appreciate their gratitude.
