I may not have started to actually do any work yet, but I've been reading like a demon (if demons actually read, that is). I finished Earthly Joys yesterday, read The Stallion and the Rabbit in the bath, and last night and this morning DEVOURED While England Sleeps by David Leavitt.  Wow. WOW. What a wonderful book.  Reviews of all three coming up.

Oh well, no-one around - bored bored bored. Going to slump in front of the TV.

:) Gorgeous isn't it?

I definitely recommend Earthly joys (specially if you like gardening) and While England Sleeps. Very english.

I had While England on my To Review plate, but I'd be happy to hand it over to you. Way too many things for me to keep up with at the moment.

You liked the main character? I hated the bastard. Trust me, I tried to like him.

No worries hun - be happy to.

No, I didn't like him - but he was very real.

David Leavitt is one of my favorite authors! You might also enjoy some of his other novels, such as The Lost Language of Cranes and Martin Bauman.

Hmm. I was probably too young when I read it, but I found While England Sleeps incredibly boring and haven't tried Leavitt since...
