Nov. 9th, 2007 02:23 pmStardust! (the film)
Well I LOVED it. Whatever the book was lacking, and I felt like it was lacking... something.. I could never put my finger on what, exactly the film made up for in spades. Normally a purist and the one who sits, Esme Weathwax-like with my arms folded going "why did they change that?" - the changes were all utterly brilliant. The performances completely made it, the Brothers were stellar, and hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing all the way through Robert di Niro's performance and Tristan matured nicely. The only thing I would have liked to have stayed the same was the fact that the fair came to Wall and the humans in Wall knew about it and walked across.
I'm now officially in lust with Mark Strong. A sexy villian (he'd be a fabulous Snape) who can ride a horse? I'm there. That'll be me there, on the floor. Waiting to be rescued. Or Trampled. I don't mind which.
The floods in my area were less than expected, thank Gawd but no sign of Lucius.

Date: 2007-11-09 05:27 pm (UTC)I've been saying Mark Strong for Snape (so much better than ageing and overweight English hams.../fandom apostasy) since 2004. In "Our Friends in the North" he had long rather lank hair, too.

I'm sure Lucius is snuggled up somewhere and delighted to hear you're ok. I got a bit panicky when I heard your area-ish mentioned on the radio this morning.

Date: 2007-11-09 06:45 pm (UTC)And I loved Stardust. It had been awhile since I'd read the book when I saw the film, but it was just...magical, for lack of a better word. And Charlie Cox made me utterly love Tristan -- he actually matured very well.
Oh goodness, I'd forgotten Mark Strong was Septimus. Le sigh. That almost makes me want to do the 'Snape, Snape, Septimus Snape' prompt for
