*blick*

You would think, wouldn't you - that if a loyal hard-working member of the team (that's me, so stop trying to find a loyal hardworking etc) had actually LOST THEIR VOICE due to an obvious incipient chest infection and sounds like Foul Ole Ron when coughing, that one's loving and caring "Investors in People" awarded firm would send said hardworking wossit HOME. Wouldn't you?

Oh yes. I forgot.

I work for Wolfram & Hart.

However, I'm so husky you could strap me to a sledge, and drive me to the north pole so that's one consolation. I might do a voice post later, for the craic.

Maybe the Senior Partners are keeping you there for the "eye candy" factor and/or they find your phlegm-congested voice sexy? *spinspinspin*

Cant you actually just take yourself home, or is there some new law that only allows people to go sick with permission? Seriously, you shouldn't have gone to work!

Wolfram is the name of the villain in my first novel.

Maybe if you husked all over some key people they'd send you home purely out of an interest in self-preservation.

Hang on and feel better!

Try hot tea with a little honey and a cough drop mixed in to melt. You'll be better in no time.

Um, sorry, I couldn't help it. And I'm sorry you're not well, it sucks. An employer who gives a damn about whether you're sick or not is a rarity, I would think.

I hope you get better soon! *hugs*

Go and cough all over someone important's keyboard. That should get you sent home, even from Wolfram & Hart. And I'm sorry you seem to have acquired my cough! I've been trying to get rid of this one for *ages*.

Play it up! Expectorate! After all, Foul Ole Ron gets paid by people to go away... make that infection your own and put it to work for you! =D

it doesn't work for me, sadly - don't know why. There's others who just complain of a headache and they are told to "go home and get better" but don't know what magic i'm missing, really.

Not sad, just very well-informed. (I did research on Marlene for a story called "Dietrich Wears Army Boots" in Wicked: Sexy tales of Legendary Lovers. One of my favorites.)

Hello. :-)

Wondered if the incipient chest infection might be forgotten for a bit if you were to hear that somewhere in the world another copy of Standish had found its way under someone's Christmas tree (mine). I have to thank an LJ friend for the gift (she also owns a copy of the book). *watches money streaming toward Norfolk*

Loved the novel, and now that I know you're here, I might drop by from time to time to see what else you're working on. I've been told that my next birthday gift will be a novel that she saw you recommend; would it be cheating, do you think, if I started scrolling through your posts for clues?

You have an iguana named Neville? I have another LJ friend (not the gift-giver) who has a cat called Neville (pronounced in French fashion). Six degrees of separation!

Oh, you silly! That would have meant expressing *emphatic* feelings; they can't do that!

Hope you coughed into their tea or something? Feel better soon!

*Hugs*

It's a full blown cold today, I'm terribly attractive, covered in metholyptus. :)

Oh I am very happy you liked Standish and it's so nice when I hear people are reccing it to each other.

I tend to wibble on about books a lot on here, so trawl away, but she might mean the recommendations over at my Gay Historical blog Speak Its Name? www.speakitsname.wordpress.com

Sorry to hear about the cold. :-(

I'm housebound too, today, but in my case it's thanks to a rainstorm that's giving us a good drenching. Yes, I can hear you laughing at this, but bear in mind that I live in southern California, where rain is nothing but an urban legend. Still, a day like this gives me the opportunity to finally tidy up the post-Christmas shambles. Maybe. If I have time after LJ and MSN....

Have to ask about your icon. Is that a Margaret Cameron photo? I volunteer at the J. Paul Getty Museum, and a couple of years ago there was a photography exhibit that included some of Cameron's work. I seem to remember this photo of the two little girls dressed as angels, or one very similar to it.

Yes, I was staring at the posts on my flist relating to cold and rain and going... "hmmmmmmm" in a Marge voice....

:)

I'm not sure about the icon -probably, she sounds familiar.

Only now I'm wondering if the photographer's first name was Julia, and not Margaret. I suppose I could just google it and find out for myself, and maybe I will eventually.

This icon of yours looks like Tadzio from the Visconti Death in Venice.
