(no subject)

I had to take Lucius to the vet yesterday. I’d been a bit worried about him for a while because he hadn’t put the weight on that Severus has. They were both “poor” when I got them, not skeletal, but you could feel every rib and far more slender than 1 year old boys should be and they quickly put on gloss and condition – but while Severus is a nice weight, Lucius is “Willowy” a bit like Bowie in Man Who Fell To Earth.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It always amazes me how alike their name sakes they are, I always saw Lucius being taller and leaner and Severus being a little on the spare tyre side because of his sedentary job.

Anyway, I was convinced he was anaemic as I compared his gums and ears with Severus and they were paler and he’d been (or so it seemed) a little listless compared with Severus.

Anyway, I think the vet thought I was a time (and KERCHING-MONEY!) waster, she said his weight is fine and his gums were ok too. (blush) He did have a couple of fleas (I don’t normally bother with flea stuff in the winter) so I got some flea stuff and she gave him a strong worm pill.

Happily, even though he had a thermometer shoved up his arse and a pill shoved down his throat he didn’t seem to take it personally and isn’t sulking. It was lovely to see Severus’ reaction when I brought Lucius back though, he positively GLOMPED Lucius and they rolled around the carpark in a most embarrassing manner.

I left them to it. It almost wants to make me write Young Enthusiastic-before-he-was-soured-by-VM-totally-in-love-with-Lucius Severus fic again. Sigh. But I won't.

Film Night: Hot Fuzz

I cried myself laughing from start to finish.

Believe me, I'm not at all the sort of person who laughs at loud at films - certainly not in the cinema - but with this I laughed literally from the first five minutes, and it built and built and built until I was literally crying with laughter at the end - and I have to say that it's only an English audience, perhaps, that can laugh their utter socks off at a building blowing up possibly killing everyone inside.

I don't think the makers were expecting it to be the runaway success it has obviously been (the cinema was packed to the gills and I haven't seen that in four years of cinema going with canaries_chick) but (and you know I'm not a gushy reviewer) I can't think of one thing wrong with this film.
