"I had rather have a plain russet-coated captain that knows what he fights for, and loves what he knows, that that which you call a gentleman and is nothing else." Oliver Cromwell, 1643

I bet you would, Oliver, I say, I bet you WOULD!

At Wikipedia I found:
being elected as one of the Top 10 Britons of all time in a BBC poll

So I checked the poll. 10 chosen Britons are:

Isambard Kingdom Brunel
Winston Churchill
Oliver Cromwell
Charles Darwin
Diana, Princess of Wales
Queen Elizabeth I
John Lennon
Horatio Nelson
Isaac Newton
William Shakespeare

If this poll is fair or no, I have no idea!

Just shows you what a load of BLOODY IDIOTS there are in this world. Diana? BLECK.

Cromwell was a psychotic monster, imo.

I'm trying to be tolerant of you girls and your slash fantasies, but Oliver Cromwell?! Is no one safe?

Nope. No-one's safe. That's the whole point of slash. I've read My Little Pony, and Pinky and the Brain, after all.

*blick*

But no, this was more a denigration of the bastard Cromwell - and I found the quote for use in the foreward in Transgressions - it does seem to fit the novel.
