This story is writing itself! There''s just the problem of the name, as Dickon isn't Jack but I suspect thjat's the pseudonym he uses when flying the rainbow flag.

Or it's Dick Richardson, also from the O'Brian stories and much admired by the gay Admiral (in Reverse of the Medal) for his looks!
