No, no - you don't have to buy anything!

I should have pointed out yesterday - I did a post on LUST BITES about gay love letters, (which is nothing more or less, really, than a big fat advert for Rictor Norton's "My Dear Boy") so I'll hope you'll pop over and read it.  No, I don't have any deal with Mr Norton for commission, but it is a fascinating read for anyone interested in gay history.  I for one, intend to track down and read as many gay love letters as I can. *waggles eyebrows conspiratorially*

In a much better mood today, you'll be pleased to hear after a weekend of grumpy ranting! Nearly finished the game I said I wouldn't mention again, am on the final fight (which I'm losing, natch, even on "very easy"). I really meant to write today but my dad rang at 830 with a crisis over paperwork, so I've been over there sorting that out. Nothing serious.  Tomorrow then, eh?

Dear BBC. Not everyone wants to watch tennis you know. So why the fuck is it on BOTH BBC1 and BBC2 all day??  With much loathing. Me.

I have UNinstalled Firefox 3 as it was seriously stuffing things up. Sorry if anyone else DL'd in on my rec.

I have an interview with the RSPCA on Monday for Branch Manager. I doubt I'll get it (they'll not think I'm fit enough, I'm not) but it's nice I'm getting interviews just based on my CV.

I loved that book so much, I got it in February and I go to it time and again when I'm looking for a particular flavor in something I write and I feel like my work doesn't reflect... well... lets say when it sounds like I'm a woman writing dialogue for a man. It's not so much about voice as about thought process, of course, because in letters voice is always contrived anyway. What a great recommend, and I will second you and recommend this to anyone...

I love it, too. (love the icon, too, btw!!!!)

It's such a shame that the letter is dying out - probably used most for business communication these days.

I hope not. I hope people still write letters...

What did you find wrong with Firefox 3? I actually did download it on your rec, and so far I have had no problems with it. Anything I should know?

My pc started whirring all the time as if it were updating, then it slowed down, kept crashing firefox and then finally I coudn't open google chat no matter how many times I rebooted.

Wow. That has not happened to mine so far. So far, at any rate. I rather like the new Firefox too. Oh well. I shall see.

Good luck with the interview! I wouldn't have thought you needed to be particularly fit to be a Branch Manager - surely they'll give you underlings to do the running around, won't they?

Unless I have to learn it all from the bottom up, e.g. cleaning out pens etc...

That sounds like the sort of thing a manager might have to pitch in with if staff/volunteers all got sick at once, but it doesn't seem likely--unless it's a tiny branch office. In the US, I don't think the SPCA even has animal facilities--they route rescues to other organizations.

I'll do some marching on the spot this week and try and help my stamina a little. If I'd started when I lost my job I'd be a lot fitter by now!!!

I've been to the this branch before, had an interview there for the same job about 7 years ago, came 2nd, and they have mainly cats on the premises as it's in the middle of town, but they temporarily home anything that gets brought in.

The willpower will be not to adopt everything in sight.

Thanks hun. I don't hold out much hope, but at least I'm "seen to be looking for work!"
