I had a book to post to America. It was a big heavy book! The post office told me that to go airmail it would cost me £10/$20 so I blanched and said "how much for surface?" That was "only" £4/$8 so I opted for that. If it had to go by boat, then so be it - it would just take a lot longer to get there.

Imagine my surprise when four days later the recipient said that they'd received it!

Hell! I'm never sending parcels by airmail again! Seems they just shove them on the plane anyway!

I have a sick pussy. No jokes please. Severus is listless, off his food and his third eyelids are half over his eyes. Off his food being the worst symptom as he's a greedy (steal it if he can't get given it) kitteh and he's not touched his breakfast. I'm giving him 24 hours and then it's the Vet first thing tomorrow morning. *worries*

There's some fab films on this week. Footsteps in the Fog today - Stewart Granger as a wife murderer and Jean Simmons (minus the Kiss face paint, I'm assuming) and then tomorrow The Ghost and Mrs Muir! *squeeful*

Puss sends Sevie kitty loves.

The surface mail thing...worth me checking it out. My ebay selling is usually done in the UK but the last few weeks I have send abroard. Thank you! :)

I think They have secretly developed a transatlantic vacuum delivery pipe and are Not Telling Us. I posted a doll to the US last week, and that too arrived within four days, where mostly it's taken over a week (even by air-mail).

You never said how your interview went!

Does your cat get outdoors? Maybe he ate some poisonous plant...or I fear he's eaten a mouse that has been poisoned with decon. My cat did that several years ago. My vet recommended I force feed him broth to help him process out the poison, as he quit eating and drinking and was just curled in a ball and waiting to die. SO, using a ear cleaning squeeze bulb, I forces warm chicken broth down him, and he came around, but he's had terrible arthritis ever since...the poisoning did something to the flexibility of his spine...he got stiff way before his years. He's now 16...jet black and about 20pounds, even though he's gotten skinny with age...I call him a West Virginia miniature panther.

Good God, I'll have to try sending by surface. It cost me $20 to post 4 small pieces of jewelry to the UK the other day. Without insurance. Argh.

Best wishes to Severus...

Oooh... The Ghost and Mrs. Muir... wow did that film ever ignite my imagination when I watched it on television as a kid. Not to mention the sheer breath-taking gorgeousness of Gene Tierney.

When I was moving back to the US last year, I mailed a bunch of packages (b/c somehow I'd manage to accumulate so much stuff while abroad) and a few packages arrived within a couple weeks but one package arrived 3 mos later and then another package, unbelievably, arrived 7 mos later. I like to think that one took a trip all the way around the world and saw some sights, before heading to my little corner of NY. :)

Doesn't sound good with the kitty. At least you've discovered early that he wasn't eating.

(Hey, I can type apostrophes again! Grand!)
