So, I picked a project and was fairly gleeful because I thought there wouldn't be much research involved.  Lighthouses.  Oh - was I wrong. wrong wrong wrong. I should have known that I couldn't just put blokes in a lighthouse and have them shag. They'll have to DO things. work the light. operate the foghorn. use the telegraph or something.  Buggrit!!!

I've learned more about lighthouses today than I never wanted to know.

However it's all been quite interesting - the first keepers of Cromer Lighthouse were actually 2 young women so f/f writers could even jump onboard the lighthouse love.

first keepers were two young women who together received a pound a week for wages with certain perquisites.

How dare they tease me with "certain perquisites"?!

I'm finding this very much like the English Civil War research - loads of nerdy information like: when they were built, who designed them, how tall, how many times they were replaced - but few human details.

I'm impressed with you and vashtan though - modern warfare is something I'd never approach - like Tall Ships...!
