It's up on Amazon right now - and I'm in the process of writing to people to try and sort out the problem - I don't know how solvable it is - but please, don't buy it expecting it to be by me, because it absolutely ISN'T.  Many thanks to withsweet_words for bringing it to my attention. I have no idea what it's about - but I doubt it's a gay historical romance, and if it is - that's even worse.

ETA: panic over. It's an old reprint. Phew. You can read the whole thing here on Google Books I rather think that it's the last subject I'd write about. Especially in 100 pages of verse.

We will resume our normal programming asap.  I have pointed it out to Amazon, though - because it's tagged with my name. I've put a review up stating it's not by me.

I think it's an old book reprinted, so I'm calming down a little now, it's not like a new writer is calling himself or herself Erastes.

I don't think pennames have much to do with it, though - the majority of authors write under a penname, but I wouldn't call myself Jean Plaidy for example. I did search for Erastes for I started out, seems I missed this one.

Sorted. It's an old reprint of a poem extolling women. I've put a note on the review section of Amazon and gehayi has done the same on Amazon.com. I hope no-one buys it and thinkS WHAT was Erastes ON?

I have the same problem with another author who has the name Margaret Leigh. She hasn't put out anything new in a while, but I have seriously considered revising my name for any future publications and using Meg Leigh.

Wish I'd known before my book was published. Ai me.

I don't suppose if you use a pseudonym that you can sue anyone for infringement of copyright, particularly since Erastes was a fairly well-known term in ancient Greece. This happens in the film industry as well, with two or more actors using identical names.

I did a search for my own name before I published and found that there was a Mark Probst who published a fiction novel back in 1989 about the stock market called "Winter Losses" I just added a middle initial to avoid confusion.

I searched for the name I wanted, but Helen Highwater is being used by both a romance writer and a folksinger. Sigh. There's a Lee-Rowan that makes storage units, but that seemed safe enough... "Lee Rowan. Not the one who makes Closets."

He seems to enjoy twisting standard poetic terms (he attributes the vegetable fires to Shelley) backwards - thinking them new, my guess is that it's a vasty deep. which is still horrible.

No, I don't think you can, no matter what name you use - but it's considered polite not to use someone else's and utterly stupidity to use anything famous. Not that I'm referring to me, of course, just that even if your name is really Stephen King, you'd be expected to use a different one.
