I'm sure you've all heard of it, but for those who haven't www.bookcrossing.com

The idea is simple. Take a book you don't want and don't mind passing on - or a much loved book that you'd like others to read and "release it" into the wild for others. You give it a number (from the site) and track its progress across the world.

I'm not being very nice to BC today. I'm releasing "Da Vinci Code" and the book I've just bought, "Wraeththu"

I'll be so squeeful if someone finds them though. Just got to find somewhere safe to leave them.

How FUN! I need to play. I wonder what I can leave. I only have so many books that don't actually belong to my mother or my brother. I'm a book thief.

Bookcrossing is indeed a nifty little creation. Some people... people that I, of course don't know or mingle with socially (ahem) go to greatly geeky lengths in designing their bookcrossing bookplates.

It's not that they have nothing better to do with their time--oh, they do. It's more akin to a mother who spit-shines her child's face before releasing it out into the world.

Hee! I felt AWFUL. I didn't like the book much, but I left it in a supermarket trolley and as I walked away I felt like a criminal.

Oh my, I wanna try that too! *peruses bookshelf*
Hmmm... my fantasy books? No.
Fly by Night (which I was ordered to buy by a person who knows the author and is actually really good)? Definitely not.
My Pooh bear? Never!
My HP books? Are you mad??? NO!

Getting to the end of my english books. Don't tell me I'll actually have to go and buy a book to release! *whimper*

Have plenty of books I wouldn't miss, but they're all in danish and what fun would it be if it couldn't even leave the country.

*laughs* Most people feel guilty for shoplifting. It's rare you hear that someone feels guilting for 'shopbestowing'.

Any excuse to make an icon ^_^ I remember trying to get into the Wraeththu books. I think it was the double 'thth' that bugged me the most.

(And feel free to like/not like the icons, you aren't under obligation! On the other hand, if you want something changed, feel free to let me know: I work at the client's request, heh.)

I joined Book Crossing a few years ago when I found a released book in a hotel ... I've had mention of one book come back to me, but that's it :( ... Still, it made my day!!
