Lucius is better!!! He jumped up on the bed in the night and started making a fuss of me like normal so I knew he was better - he'd just been lying around like a dead thing up to then. Then when I got up he ate his breakfast and is looking for more food even now. He's not getting any more for an hour, after five days of nothing, it's better he has a little at a time.

Thank you to everyone who cared enough to follow it and comment - it's silly to some people to worry so about one's cats perhaps (especially one who will probably only bugger off after he's back to full weight) but I can't help it.

As for me, I'm a little better, my dizzyness kicks in when I lower my centre of gravity and I won't be going to the cinema again tonight, and my head has a constant whine and my right ear is partially blocked, but much much better than before - so yay!

I'm doing a post today on The Britwriters about the Channel Four programme "The Devil's Whore" which so far, I'm enjoying enormously. Seeing as how I've spent so many years in the 17th century recently it was very illuminating to see it all on screen. It's rarely portrayed, this (pretty vital) period of our history which (having tried to make sense of it for ages) is not terribly surprising. It's hugely confusing, and not even really a "war" at all - just a load of disparate regiments marauding up and down the country taking great houses and towns - mainly for plunder rather than anything else. But such pretty clothes... And such pretty men.

I'm glad Lucius is better! Though I had to laugh when I saw your tags, because they appeared to say "Lucius, the Devil's Whore", which makes him sound a very devilish and immoral cat indeed!!

Ooh, ears are awful things to go wrong. Every sympathy...and a kitty biscuit for you too! :P

Yes, The Devil's Whore! *skips* I'm recording the series and am off work next week so I might get to start about watching it. Pretty, pretty girlie ;). Moi, shallow? *snerk* Atm, her pretty face is all I know about from the trailers, hehe. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the pretty men also.

So very pleased to see this. (Wish I was also seeing you reporting that you jumped up on the bed and had no problems.) Perhaps milord will rethink his wandering ways. Maybe for a day or two. Orlonger, if the weather's off-putting.

Aww, I'm glad to hear Lucius is doing better. Do you have any idea what it was?

Out of curiosity, do they have The Devil's Whore on iPlayer? I've been hunting for it and haven't been able to find it.

The vet said "probably a stomach upset" but that's just a guess - there was no temperature.

It should appear on "Channel 4 on demand" soon - as they have a 30 days catch up thingy.

Lucius is better! Yay! And I think we all do understand the fuss made about our pets - they're our 'children'!

Good to know you are slowly getting back to normal as well. See? Everything turns out all right in the end!

Prince Rupert was rather yummy but my eyes are for John Simm, although I'm warming to Oliver Cromwell. It was such a shame the civil war film (To Kill a King?) with Rupert Everett and Tim Roth was so awful. And why oh why is there no epic of 1066? I mean, 1066 would be good enough as the title and there's plenty of blood and guts, betrayal, political machinations etc to appeal to most folks.

From: [identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com
Only don't let Hollywood get hold of 1066 puhleeze.

I actually quite liked To Kill a King - there was some wonderfully slashy moments in it! :)

And Cromwell is far too good looking in TDW. :)

But yes. Simm. *drools*

"Cover yourself, sirrah."

NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I'm glad to hear that Lucius is better! I'm sorry I hadn't commented to wish him well; I haven't been on LJ for what seems like a week, and I missed it. I didn't even know you were sick! I'm sorry, and I'm glad to know that you're getting better.

Oh, I was hearing about this programme from the ladies at the RNA, who said 'that's going to be a fantastic boost to anyone who's writing English Civil War at the moment', and I said 'hee, you must read Transgressions. It's coming out in April.' :) Good timing!

Date: 2008-11-22 02:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com
Yes! It's a good timing thing isn't it? Hee! Yes, and Lucius got better quicker than me. Perhaps I should go to the vet, not the doctor.

It's not silly to worry about your cat! Pets are important and I know mine have always had a firm grip on my heart. I still get teary-eyed when I think about two of my cats who passed away recently. When someone is a part of your life for that many years, it's hard to see them go.

Glad Lucius is feeling better, and I hope he continues in the pink of health!

So sorry that you and Lucius have been ill, and very glad to hear that you're both feeling better! I know it's horrible when a pet is ill - you feel so helpless.

Hope you're feeling properly better now.
