Pillage!

Ah well. We continue!

I made my first raid on www.Travian.com. I felt really guilty about it--for about five minutes!!! My troops returned, unharmed and with their little Roman arms full of booty. Now I'm finding other poor saps to raid and pillage.  Gawd alone knows what I'll do when someone attacks me. Hopefully they won't get much as I keep my resources pretty low. I've just sent them out again. Awa' the lads!! I'm sure I'll pay for it when my beginners protection runs out, however.*RAIDY* I need a Travian icon!

Is this my LJ? Why golly gosh, I believe it is! Am I allowed to opine in it? Why, yes! (and yes, that was a piece of passive aggressive shit and not aimed for ANYONE on my flist.)

Who do I want off Strictly? Argh!  They are all so good. Probably Lisa and Brendan...Merlin was a bit of a waste of space.

Dear Firefox.  When you give me an update I do NOT appreciate you wiping all my cookies. Or making the screen so big-arse that I have to use the horizontal scrolling bar to get around. AND WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY 1000'S OF RESEARCH BOOKMARKS????? *suicidal* ETA: Phew. An easy tekkie fix. But not one I should have had to make. That was SCARY.

No love, EVER!!!!

Don't forget the Advent Calendar. There was a short story yesterday, and a complete one today too. Enjoy because it will all be gone after Christmas.

Oh, is Firefox responsible for why all my Delicious bookmark tabs are not working any more? I'd only just got used to using them as well! And now I really miss them!

*g* It reminds me of the fanfic wars I got embroiled in for saying that actually I didn't much like the canon any more. People seem to get very stressed at anyone expressing a negative opinion, even in private. I don't see how it can possibly work, because it's pretty much an order not to be honest.

If you need the fix, I can point you to it.

I feel that (even if I make an arse of myself in the process) I'm entitled to my own opinion, no matter how contrary that seems to everyone else. It pisses me off that some people think that I've got to be happy about things and if I don't I'm a HATER! It's like a friend of mine who has a site on a dating site. They've got "no [xxxx](slang name for body type) no offense, they just aren't my type" or words to that effect - and they get hate mail demanding to know why they HATE that particular group of person. I don't get the "you are either with us or agin us" mentality. I really don't.

Thanks! I did what you said in your reply to [livejournal.com profile] berserker, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. It's probably a Delicious problem rather than a Firefox one, as I still do have my other bookmarks.

It's very old fogeyish of me, but I feel as if maybe people aren't taught how to debate things in a rational way any more - so they can no longer deal with disagreement without feeling emotionally upset by it. It's silly to suppose that everyone will always agree on things, but I suppose if you're not equipped to deal with disagreement you panic when it happens and try to stamp it out. I still think compulsory philosophy lessons would be a good thing in schools!

(I like your Santa hat, btw!)

Thanks! I rather feel that Tadzio has the expression which says "I am SOOO going to get you for this..."

SAVE your FAVORITES

every so often I save my FAVORITE folder - usually best to copy to a flash drive save it with the date saved and then move it to a preferred location on your hard drive. I lover it when some 'clever' bit of programming (ie programmer) decides it is smarter than me and 'knows' what I want!

Oh, so it can be fixed? Because I kinda gave up updating Firefox just for that.

Yes - i found it on the Firefox support pages

Close down Firefox.

then - Go to your profile (where that is depends on your OS)

http://support.mozilla.com/sl/kb/Profiles#What_is_a_profile_

Then rename the following files

places.sqlite to places.sqlite.bak
.json files to .json.bak

and passwords (i didn't both with this)

signon3.txt to signon3.txt.bak

I'm a luddite and it worked for me.

Thank you! I was starting to hate Firefox. Lost count of all the stuff I lost because of it.

I love your smooth transition from a rant about Foxfire to a reminder of the Advent Calendar. ;-) I will go check out the AC.

Firefox saves all your bookmarks as a list in an html page 'bookmarks.html'. From time to time I just copy it to a backup folder and change it to 'bookmarks*date*.html so I can roll back my bookmarks or find ones I deleted that I realise I should have kept etc. You can open links directly from the html file or import it back into firefox (where it appends the imports rather than overwriting).

Where is that file kept?

hmmm-that may vary according to the OS you use. In winxp for me it is c:/documents and settings/*whatever your login username is*/Application data/Mozilla - in a sub directory in there somewhere (it seems to vary slightly for some reason). These are hidden folders though.

The easiest way to find it would probably be to search for it on your c: drive In my Computer right click on the c: drive and choose 'search', with 'search hidden files and folders' ticked in 'more advanced options'. Then search for bookmarks.html
Make sure 'show hidden files and folders' is ticked first in 'tools' 'folder options' 'view' tab at the top of the window. It's a round 'radio button' under Hidden files and folders and may take a moment to spot amidst all the others.
