Film Four is Free. I die happy.

The trailer for the "Dragon's Den" programme has to be one of the best trailers EVER.

Am reprising my boys from the gay science fiction piece I submitted to Greg Herren's Distant Horizons and giving them another adventure. Would be nice to have some regular characters that I could do a few stories about.

Nothing else to report. Although I tell you what, beta-ing for someone who doesn't bother to say "thanks" really pisses me off. Next time, I shall say "no"

I like being thanked for beta-ing too, but mostly I do it for the glory of seeing my name up there in print ... er, I mean, because it's good practice for my proof-reading and copy-editing. And because I get to read the stories before everyone else.

Well, I'll say thank you twice to try and make up for it, as you made some very helpful comments on my story. Considering you've quit fandom, I'd think extra thanks would have been in order, not silence.

I can't name the seven dwarves as I keep thinking one of them was Sleazy.

YAY FILM FOUR! I don't know how many times I've looked to see what's on and cursed not having it.

Could the beta thing be a misunderstanding? A lost email? I can't believe someone would actually be as rude as that, how awful!

You beta'd, you rule!

I hope the "thanks" is accompanied by chocolate and an interesting story for why it was late.

It's a brilliant trailer, far better than the programme itself!!

Taking the beta-input plus some suggestions on the text and neither saying "Thank you" nor mentioning me in the author's notes - this has happened to me once, too. And I will never again beta-read anything for that person again. So I can relate very well to your experience.

I appreciate my beta's work and love her to little pieces, and I know I am very lucky that we can work together so well. I think it's just a part of the mutual deal to say thank you. In the a/n, with a link to a story or a picture she might enjoy, with a personal email, whatever. Even if you won't work together on the next fic. It's such a stupid attitude to disregard our betas, because without them, there would be a much slower development for the writers.

I know I'm preaching to the choir. So I'll just stop the rant now and simply tell you:

Thanks for betaing, for writing and sharing the experience, and for being around on LJ!

My mother's five sisters and two of my other aunts (married to uncles) once did a Seven Dwarves skit for our family Christmas party. I forget all the names, but my Aunty Barbara has/had a goitre. She was Lumpy.

LMAO! There SHOULD be a Sleazy! And he should have a roll-up hanging out of his mouth and a beer bottle in his hand, and he should use his height to bite Snow White on the arse every time she walks past. I love him already.

Doc, Bashful, and Dopey.

I always thank my betas and give credit where credit's due. To do otherwise is just shitty.

It's free? Why couldn't they do that when I was actually in the UK? /whining

Absolutely. Happened to me, too, and it's bloody rude.

Oh I do it for the practice, and I don't even care if I get a mention in the story, I don't generally re-read a piece I've beta-ed, but an emailed "thanks" isn't beyond the realms of difficulty.

grrrr.

Although the flagship film WAS Lost in Transaction.... which I consider the nadir of my cinema growing life....

And possibly, I'll give the miscreant the benefit of the doubt.

I used to do a LOT for fandom. This was just a kind of swan song. I'm not particularly good at it, better at picking up continuity and concepts rather than punctuation, as punc baffles me completely. It's something that happens to other people!

Aw - that's so nice of you. I don't care tuppence if I'm mentioned in the author's notes, after all a poor editor in a novel doesn't get a mention, but a return email saying Thanks wouldn't have come amiss. There were a lot of mistakes in it too. grump.

*hug*

Ah but I didn't have a Dwarf Index of 7! *g*

I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding, (i hope) but I could have done without it.
