I watched the ep on Friday night and got the impression Stephen was embarrassed. Not sure what they intended, whether it was just a bit of fun or they wanted to provoke a reaction. Whatever, it was awkward and felt a bit show-off-y because so deliberate. Not that I'm one to complain about male snoggage: men kissing shouldn't be an occasion for comment and I'm uncomfortble if a kiss is used to shock just for the sake of it, which I'm not sure was the case here. It puzzled me!
I didn't actually see it Friday (forgot to leave the pub again) and I haven't got time to watch it now as I ought to be in bed, but the gay friends I have do find it uncomfortable to watch two men kissing IF they aren't openly gay themselves. They consider it taking the piss, as would I in their shoes.
On the other hand, as I have no idea who those two kissing are, or why they are kissing, I am supremely unqualified to comment, but in the true spirit of 'instant experts' on t'Interweb late at night after a bottle of wine, I'll do so anyway.
At least I have the decency to keep my tongue firmly in my cheek as I do it.
