Yes, it's only the ARC, but still. *sobbing*.  I really really wish mum was here today. Not that I don't wish that everyday, but she had so much faith in this book. "this is the one that will sell mainstream," she said. Ain't it annoying when mothers are always right? I'll be a real mess when I get the real authors copies. Now I have to work out what to do with these six... My hands are shaking.

Ooo - and just found out that Alex Beecroft got her copies yesterday too. She got eight, but I think it's possibly that Transgressions might be a bit bigger, not sure. :)

This is why it's worth it. Not the money - this. Holding the copy in your hands.

Congratulations, and of course your mother was right, we always are. She knew, and would not be surprised at all by this moment.

As to what to do with them, maybe keep a couple and have a contest or something to give away the others? We used to get a lot of ARC copies of new books when I was at the regular library, I think they're cool, a bit like knowing a secret!

It's rather sobering to think that she JUST got to hold a copy of Standish in her hands a few weeks before she died, and I was grateful for that. It doesn't seem five minutes ago, really.

I'm asking the publisher whether they will send to the UK Sunday papers, which will save me 3 copies at least. It will have more weight coming from them. I doubt my local library will be interested but it's worth asking I suppose.

(I actually have recced Standish to my mother and sister. Unfortunately, they could give two shits about my opinions on things so I'm hoping they come across it through some other means, too.)

I really enjoyed Frost Fair, too. It didn't have the same intensity as Standish, but was lovely all the same.

And I'm SO looking forward to this. *bounces* Will have a reserve copy on order where ever I see it advertised first. :)
