I've just had the news that my gay Space Opera short "Whatever the Risk" has been accepted for Queered Dimensions. I'm very happy! It was a nice change to write an adventure, with two men who were just gay - and not a romance.

ETA: I've just had the news that STARbooks have accepted my gay superhero story, too. This has got to be a personal record...

I have the car back,

and they DIDN'T charge me the earth for a change. I think that they were 1. ashamed for their behaviour regarding the second-hand part they put in before and 2. blushy about having had it for nine days when they were able to fix it in one. Or maybe they just did it cheap./cynical.

It's a relief. However, tomorrow will be a busy one as I have to:

1. Sign on

2. Go to library

3. Go to Dad's

4. Take Lili to Vet

5. Go shopping

6. Go to Post office

seeing as how everything is in the opposite direction to everything else, and I live ten miles from anywhere-its going to be fun.

I had a book present this morning. The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss. Thank you Chris Smith - so much! Book presents are the best!

I'm watching a programme called "Britain's Best Dish" and so far the contestants are cooking Caribbean and Turkish dishes. *blinks in confusion*

I'm horrified that it took them more than 30seconds to say YES YES YES YE SY EYSYSEYYSEYSYE.

1. Sign off (wax on, wax off)
2. BOOKIES (read Mark Gatiss. Do it now)
3. Daddies!
4. :( Vet. I take Pejxa on Friday... first time since she was baby.
5. Chocolate sausage chipness!
6. Stamps. Pervy stamps. I know you.

Bookies! Bookies! Bookies!

Yes. Face it. Us lot have taken over.

I'm so glad to hear you got your car back. About fricking time.

I also have to go to the post office tomorrow as I've got a shiny new author's copy to put in the mail (along with your VERY late Christmas package. I hope the candy isn't stale. :(

Thank you - that's spooky, never sold two in one day before. Now I just need an agent acceptance to round the day off nicely. But perhaps the 3rd nice thing was getting the car back.

I think having a mainstream novel coming out has put you in the spotlight. Publishers are seeing your name and remembering, "oh yeah Erastes submitted something to us, maybe we better look into that!"

I don't know what to say to this, because however I word it, it sounds big headed, so I'm just going to grin at you, in a silly fashion.

May I suggest doing all that other stuff before cracking open Gatiss...because it'll be jolly hard to put it down again. =)

thank you! :)

I'm just finishing off Fall of the Kings so I won't start Gatiss until that's done, I don't tend to read at all downstairs, I read in the bath and in bed. If I allowed myself to read during the day I'd be reading 100 books a month instead of 20!

I have to agree with you on that score! You n me in Queered Fiction, eh? It'd be fun if we ended up in Mark's thing, too. You're not writing WWI perchance?

I think I'm going to have to pass on that one - as I see it's a novella, I don't think i'm going to have the energy to write that and MM but that's probably what I might have done

Woot! Woot! (I sound like a steam train!)

Congratulations on your sales, and on getting your car back. It's a real pain not having transport when your public transport is pants. When my car's in the shop and they can't lend me one I have to borrow my mother's - otherwise it would take me 5 hours, round trip to get to work on the bus/ train/ and foot. Grrrr.

Much joy to you! May the joy continue.

Merry

Thank you! Trains are welcome, too.

There's just no transport from this village - there's one commuter bus which goes to Norwich, as far as I know, but nothing that goes to Yarmouth - and it's over ten miles to the unemployment office.

:)

:) Thank you, sweetie. I do like short stories, I'm just appallingly lazy. I got a story in MEN magazine last year and should have built on that (as the pay is great!) but just haven't. I am now encouraged to do another one for them, I think.

Gay Superhero Story

Erastes,
Does that mean I'll have to pull it from Superqueeroes? Did you have to add some erotica elements to it for that anthology? If so, it may be considered a separate story.

Congrats on the sale,
Ellen

Hi Ellen,

I emailed you a day or so about this - did you not get the email? I get yours saying that if we were submitting to STARbooks to let you know.

I did have to add a sex scene, but it's not changed fundamentally apart from that.

Thanks! I'm happy for it to stay in as a reprint, if that's ok with you, but will understand if you want to pull it.
