Watchmen is on at 1745 at my local cinema. Yes it's on at different times too, like 2000 etc but I go to the cinema with my mate - she chooses one week and I choose another and we go after her work which means 1800 at the earliest.  This is so annoying. I've missed so many films because of the stupidness of this.  It's just possible we could run from the carpark and get food and still catch the beginning but I doubt it.

Anyway, I've heard they've changed the ending, which sucks mightily.

Another one bites the dust. Fictionwise has been bought by Borders (no - wrong again, Erastes, Barnes and Noble). Why on earth did B&N need another ebook store? Ho hum. I hope they keep the format, I like Fictionwise a lot. They take paypal and they keep the books on my shelf for ever so if I delete a file by accident I can just download again.

Being Human is going to be shown in the USA!  Hurrah!  I wonder if the Americans will 1. get it, 2. appreciate it as it's very English in tone, but I'm glad it's getting an international outing.

I posted an excerpt of Transgressions on the Speak Its Name yahoo group and no-one commented. This does not bode well.  If one can't excite the gay historical crowd...

Barnes & Noble, not Borders. But otherwise, yeah, I agree. I wonder if they plan to just incorporate it into B&N.com somehow, since they are trying to set themselves up as real competition to Amazon (and the Kindle).

Oh you're expecting a lot out of that sleepy newsgroup. Try posting an excerpt on a list with more than a thousand people--and not getting a peep. That'll have you into the chocolate ice cream in a wink.:D
Anyway, you're not allowed to say you suck when you have three books--one not even published yet--bouncing all over the bestseller lists. It is verboten.
I like David with his strong personality and Jonathan with his intriguing one and now I'm trying to ignore the temptation to read the intimate excerpt you posted so I don't spoil myself further.

Btw, remind your librarian that anything open in your lap and an object of your undivided concentration is an automatic cat magnet. Cat hair on the book cannot be avoided.
My sis would not mind the cat hair on the books. She's a librarian and she has three cats, herself.

I will do some more promo with Transgressions - has to be done, sadly, but my general chat experience has been like yours, the only responses I ever get are from Alex or Lee or other Mac even when there's 1000 people subscribed. *sigh*

Yes, don't read the intimate one--you sound like me with the loathing of spoilers! It will spoil (a little) but I'm glad you are intrigued with the snippet.

:)

I hope they don't recast Being Human like they did Life on Mars and Office Space. I don't want to see another N.American version of an English show.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think it's going to air on BBC America, which will mean it's the original version and not a remake.

I wondered that about Being Human. For instance Herrick's favourite disguise as a police sergeant, to me, subverted all those years of Dixon of Dock Green [which you probably don't remember], Z Cars etc, where the police sergeant was the most comforting thing you could see on your doorstep. Of COURSE you'd invite him in!

Sadly I do remember George Dixon, *hisses at Dirk Bogarde....*

You don't do you? The tv series that used to be on on Saturdays? It was on after Dr Who with William Hartnell.

Grand film though and wasn't Dirk a nasty piece of work in it!

I certainly do remember Dixon of Dock Green. Used to watch it regularly. Evenin' all. *whistles the theme tune*

Buck up! I thought I saw a couple of comments, but they may have been combined with responses on Alex's.

Most people on most lists lurk - I can't recall more than about 20 regular posters even on the ones that have upwards of 1500 members. Readers aren't necessarily chatters.

I'm slowly trying to learn to expect no comments at all - then I can be awesomely surprised when there are some :) They both seem to be selling as if they were actually available, which I think is amazing!

Watchmen is on at 1745 at my local cinema.

Will you please let me know if it's slashy? I heard there might be vibes between the Batman with the goggles and the guy with a piece of cloth for a face? Anybody else? What about that blond guy who looks like a starved Russian pianist?

Oh, and re: yahoogroups...my guess would be that yahoogroups as a whole have become rather inactive?

There probably are slashy vibes, but I didn't catch anything like that in the book. I'd definitely recommend reading the graphic novel.

From: [identity profile] antychan.livejournal.com
So... the film itself is not slashy? I'm asking for review purposes. It's not something I'd normally go see, unless there was slash in it. *epic fail*

I haven't seen the film--it's on at the wrong time, sadly.

Is this not the second time around viewing of Being Human? I remember last year or maybe longer ago that it was on as I caught a few episodes but then the bloody digi recorder broke, we got a new one and I forgot I was even recording the series. That said, I've still missed it, lol.

Don't think so - the pilot was out last year, but not the series.
