More garage Angst.

Made an appointment for a new MOT this morning at the local garage. Now – once again – if you make an appointment for an MOT, especially when you know there’s only two small things to be done – you expect the work to be done.  But no…. they said they couldn’t do the work UNTIL NEXT WEEK! So that was a waste of time going out in the rain. Third time lucky I have another appointment in LOWESTOFT (bloody long way to go for an MOT) on Friday and they (being brake specialists at least) should be able to get the work done on the spot.

So – because puppies are always soothing to soul, here are some pictures of Josh -  my parents last dachshund – taken all a few days after they got him.  He was so tiny – you can gauge how small he was by the packet of saccharine tablets.  Sadly he died a few years ago of a stroke, but he was an utter darling.  Baritone Jeff – you’ll appreciate these a lot.

UNAPOLOGETIC PUPPY  SPAM!!!!

That is very frustrating, but you are right and puppies are very relaxing. Lovely photos :)

Hope third time lucky works!

He is very sadly missed, he was a darling.

He really really was - and he knew it. The thing is that daxies are usually very work-orientated and love to do stuff - not Josh! He soon found out that he got the treat ANYWAY just he just looked cute and refused to do any tricks at all.

Clever dog. :) I've seen a lot of Dachshunds that were somewhat neurotic, and I got bitten by one as a kid, which kinda soured the relationship.

Aw! He is very cute :) Do they need lots of walking? I miss having a dog, but I don't miss daily walks.

PUPPY! He's utterly adorable. And a handful, I bet! Lucy certainly was when we first got her.

See, I only want to read apologetic puppy spam. Or possibly apopleptic puppy spam!

Gorgeous puppy. But I know it was only an excuse for hooman porn!

Some people think they don't but they need every bit as much as any normal dog, some more so - I used to take our first 2 D's out with the horse with me. I'd go for a gallop, then slow down and wait for the dogs to catch up! it's elderly people who buy them thinking they don't need as much exercise which leads to the obsenely fat ones you see waddling about, and being long, they can't afford to get fat or they get back problems.

He was an utter minx - not so bad as other D's we've had, but he had a shoe fetish - we'd go out and come home to find that he'd found every shoe in the house. He didn't chew them up, but he'd get them all out of the wardrobe and put them all over the furniture. Very odd.

That is very odd. But better than the alternative -- Lucy ate my glasses last summer for no reason aside from being in a strop because we went to the cinema and left her at home.

You would not believe the amount of noise he made the first day we got him home. We decided that he was going to sleep in the kitchen, like it or not, and he HOWLED the house down. You wouldn't think that something like that could have made that much noise.

Of course we gave in, and after four hours of this unearthly racket Dad picked up his bed, brought it into the bedroom and Josh went straight to sleep. And he never slept anywhere else!

LOL - When I first brought Lola home, she wouldn't spend her days anywhere except in my BRA - yes, my bra. And at night she slept on my chest and sucked the buttons on my nightgown. :)

AAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW! Such a cute little red! I love that last shot, he's so alert!

(Josh is what my sister called me when we were growing up.)

And...cars are a royal pain in the ass, no?

I knew you'd like 'em - thank hun - I miss him a lot, he was such a character. He never grew into his skin, and always had baggy elbows but was the cuddliest boy ever.

Sorry about the car. Yuck.

They are "big" little dogs, as I'm sure Jeff will agree with - bright as buttons (Josh was doubly clever as he realised he didn't HAVE to do tricks for food, specially once Aslan came along, Aslan did the trick, and both dogs got something.) but huge in temperanment and personality. They will take anything on, have literally no fear - i've seen Rotties flee as those teeth come up from the ground towards their vital organs! I'd have a handful of them if I was sure I was never going to have to work again.
