I'm still loving the show but:

I agree - enough Maryann. And, more importantly, almost everything about the Queen bothers me. This is a world that has been depicted consistently from the beginning as being all about respect, fear, obeissnce and rigid rules regarding hierarchy up the vampire ladder. Supposedly the Queen is at the top of this ladder. She is *so* not what I expected to find there. Also, if I heard her comment about being a young vampire "before the Industrial Revolution" correctly, she's not very old either.

No, I didn't get that, either - seemed to me that the older a vamp is, the more respect they seemed to get. Perhaps we'll find out more about it, but I was disappointed by her too.

It makes sense if the queen's maker was incredibly old (if the show's following the old blood equals a powerful vampire convention, that is).

I was hoping for a queen who'd been made incredibly young and was from an older world civilization, but it seems as though Sophie-Anne's just the queen of Louisiana. I really wish that I knew more about the vampire hierarchy!

I quite like that Bill isn't alpha. It makes him a more interesting character.

After all the squeeing going on I went and ordered season one. Well worth my while. It's a lovely mixture of sleaze and cute.
