I'm not going into details, because I know how boring it is hearing about other people's dreams, but let me just say that I literally cried when I saw the cats were alive and well when I woke up. God knows what triggered such horrible dreams. What was worse, i woke up - went back to sleep, and had a similar dream, then - in the dream said "oh god - it's coming true, just like my dream!" so it turned into one of those "am i awake or am i dreaming things. argh.

OK that's enough of that.

Awake now. I think.

I don’t know if anyone remembers The Great Christmas Biscuits(Cookie) debacle but if not here’s a quick recap and an amusing update – I bought a box of expensive biscuits for Christmas last year and took them over on Christmas Day, we couldn’t eat them, as we were stuffed full, but on Boxing Day I felt like a biscuit and asked Dad to get them out.  He said “what biscuits?” – we searched the house pretty thoroughly and we couldn't find them ANYWHERE. It was a big box too.  I assumed that he’d given them to the neighbours as a gift, or something, as it was baffling where they could have gone.  I mean, my dad like biscuits but he couldn’t eat an entire box overnight.  Anyway, I wrote it off.

Then yesterday, I suggested he change his jumper before we went out because he tends to favour this horrible grey one which really doesn’t suit him and is a bit tatty – and he said “I don’t have any others”  I take him into the spare bedroom and open a drawer that I know is full of jumpers, and lo and behold THE BOX OF CHRISTMAS BISCUITS IS IN THERE – NINE MONTHS LATER. (not too stale either, so I scoffed all the white chocolate ones before they disappeared again)

I mean – who was he hiding them FROM???  It’s not the first time he’s done this squirrelling behaviour either.  When Mother was alive, I would always take them something over as a pressie, and one week I bought Mum some flowers and him a pound slab of chocolate.  He said thank you, walked out of the room with it (mother and I assumed he was going to break it up put it on a plate to share) and he came back in, literally two minutes later – and we said “Where’s the chocolate then?”  And he said “What chocolate?” – and we all searched for it, but we never ever found it.

He’s very odd.  :)

The reason I went to Clacton the other day was to pick up my birthday present from Dad.  yes, I know my birthday isn't for another six weeks, but this turned up on ebay and it was too good to turn down.  A 60gb Playstation 3- the rare one that they only made a limited edition of, and is fully backwards compatible with the games the way the other consoles aren't.

Not that I have any intention of ever throwing away my PS1 or PS2 or selling them, but they won't last forever and I love nearly all of my old games.

Anyway, got it successfully fired up last night - even got it connected to the internet (and that's a first!!! ) wirelessly and we are ready to go.

The nice seller even included a game with it, Oblivion which I've been attempting to play. It's an RPG, and I've never been very good at those (let's be honest, I'm not great at any game except games where you can hide in cupboards) I don't understand the whole "equip this spell" thing, I just like having stuff i can USE without having to enter a whole complicated menu to get them to work.  But the graphics are rather wonderful and the game runs like greased lightning, has no lag time at all, and best of all NO BLOODY MEMORY CARD.

Must find a walkthrough as the game doesn't have a booklet, so I have no idea what I'm doing. I've bought the Metal Gear 4 game and Assassins Creed 1 nice and cheap on ebay and they should arrive tomorrow. I had to laugh as first class post is now "1 to 4 business days" and then I'll probably drop off the grid for a while....

Yes, I know that there's many other things I need, but birthdays aren't about things you need. They should always be about things you can't buy yourself.

The new novella is going OK - typical bloody Englishmen though, the word count needs to be around 25k, and I've done 5k and they've only just MET. How I'm supposed to do an entire passionate thing in 20k I don't know.

Pushes on, hopefully.

Thanks to all who took part in my silly meme of the other day, sadly I didn't get any bunnies from it as YOU ARE ALL MAD.

I adore Deus Ex. I haven't played it for ages, but it was one of those "seminal moments" games, where I suddenly realised that my choices were going to influence the plotline - every game I'd played up to then had had a set plot, and to find I was in control was rather a staggering thing. I was hugely disappointed when the sequel wasn't put on the PS.

The sequel is pretty poor... I didn't finish it.

So... Splinter Cell, what about that? (I keep wanting to write Sam Fisher slash).

I'm a complete Sam Fisher fangirl. His voice - omg his voice. There's something he says in game one "So I stay out of the courtyard" that melts my girly legs every single time. I found game Pandora and Chaos quite difficult, but game 1 and Double Agent was absolute joys. It's entirely my type of gaming. I want to enter a room with all the enemies already neutralised. I was - according to the official SC forums anyway - the first female to finish the game and the first one to redo it with no kills. My tranq gun is my friend.

I think that Sam/Snake slash would be the hotness.

Go you! We have a fairly stiff competition for the console... my boy hogs it all the time, so I can only play when several factors comer together:

1) He's not there
2) I don't have anything I want to write
3) I feel focused enough and I'm in the mood

Last time I really gamed was split-screen in co-op mode with the boy, which was great fun. Assassin's Creed I tried, but while it's beautiful, visually, it's terrible game play. Repetitive, annoying characters... bleargh.

But I have a mad love for Sam. The level in the bank (2nd game?) killed me. I loved it.
