Thank you so much Chris Smith – I received a big parcel today which held a lovely calligraphy set.  A real dipping quill with a purple feather, ink, sealing wax and a seal, (honk honk!) and paper. Please to be expecting splodged ink Christmas cards this year. this is it!! (Here’s their catalogue – such lovely things!)

Thanks also to Charlie for the sweet birthday book present.

The quill is resting in my the standish my mother bought me as we speak -- cannot find a saved picture of that -- but it looks FAB.

Ohhhh - I have a quill, and seals and wax and all that - just ask carlanime who is regularly plagued with blotty letters from me, folded in the style that was polite circa the early 19th c. :)
