Well, I debated not taking him, as he seemed marginally better, but then I realised I'd just stress about it all day, and tomorrow is emergencies only, so in the box he went and off we drove to the vet with loud complaints from the furry one.

He was disgusting at the vets, purring and being unutterably beautiful and the vet fell under his spell immediately.  He's a little like that child from that book - I thought it was the Treasure Seekers but now I don't think it is--he's handsome and he knows it.  By the end of it, the vet was kissing him on his nose and scritching his ears.

I wanted the ground the swallow me up. And he was just looking at me as if to say--"you see? even Vets become my minions."

Anyway....she says she thinks it's a cut, he wouldn't let her take a good look and she didn't want to muck him around - so she did what I anticipated, he's had an antibiotic injection and an anti-inflammatory and I'm to wash his foot if he'll let me.  He probably caught it on something, or perhaps in a play fight with Severus.  Sevvie is being horrible to him now, as he smells of the vet and there is hissing going on so Sevvie's in disgrace at the moment.

Weather is foul. I forgot to put the mobile radiator on yesterday and the bedroom was so cold it was awful, thank god it pumps out a lot of heat and in a couple of hours it was bearable. No snow, just easterly winds and sleety cold rain. bleurghk.

That's good it was something relatively harmless. Experience tells me he'll be up and about in a few days. We had the same problem with our old cat. He would fight, but he had a tendency to develop boils when he had been bitten. One sunday morning my parents rushed him to the vet because he had one on the side of his front leg so it looked like he had a broken paw. Curse the bacteria that lives in kitty mouths and those uber-pointy fangs!

Thanks dear - I don't think it's a break - and he's eating ok at least, I bought him a cooked chicken and he's been scoffing that. She weighed him too, as he was a little light for his age (4) and size (huge) and he's put on nearly a kilo and is now 5.1 kg which is good news. Cats. They are such a worry!

It was just a boil, and not a break, but it looked really freaky. Expensive visting the vet with an acute appointment on a sunday morning though. At least it wasn't in the middle of the night or something. I think the problem is that enormous pain threshhold. They don't start complaining until it's really bad.

Oh, I'm glad he's okay - I think the whole trip to the vet thing was his idea. Maybe he was just overdue to be fawned on by a stranger? :)

Sounds like he's acting in character. *g*

I hope he's on the mend soon, poor kitty.

They are both ridiculously like their namesakes. Lucius is lean and long legged- and Sevvie didn't grow as tall and has a bit of a pot belly. Sevvie also loves Lili to distraction and Lucius couldn't care less about her unless she worships him.

He's certainly better this afternoon, so the jabs are probably kicking in - thank you, dear!

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Well, you DID name him Lucius, after all! So of course he is good at the minion-getting and attention-getting.

I'm glad to hear that he's been taken care of, though. I didn't see your earlier post, so this was the first I'd seen -- and I'm glad it's nothing worse.

Mine are like that. Little buggers, both of 'em. :)

Aw, I'm glad he's been checked out and is as well as can be - best of luck to him! Loved his minionising of the vet. They're good that way - Hexe was in to the vet's in summer because of an inflamed tick bite, and although she's usually the most grumpy, hiss-fitty critter in the world, she behaved appallingly sweet with the vet, allowing petting, no hissing and such...

*sends scritches to the furry patient*

Sevvie really shouldn't be blamed for his reaction to the evil smell of the vet's; of course Lucius deserves what he gets. ;)

I'm glad Lucius' issue is easily resolved, poor guy. *pets the little charmer*

(I wish I knew how to upload phone pics. I came in the other night after a late shift and found Puss cuddling up to Aleksandr in bed.) LOL
