Have you read the quote from Charlotte Bronte about why they initially published as Ellis, Acton and Currer Bell? It's still relevant!

One of my favourite books, Cold Comfort Farm, has a character whose life's work is to prove his theory that Bramwell Bronte wrote all the novels and his sisters stole them and painted him as a drunk and a wastral to take all the credit themselves. Because obviously women can't really write books. :D
