Magnum Gold
Jun. 8th, 2010 02:08 pmLet me extol to you the glories of the Magnum Gold. I should explain that I am a real ice-lolly addict and have always been, but the new Magnum has blown me away to an extent I never thought I would be blown.
OK. The Magnum Gold. Let me count the ways in which this bloweth my mind.
1. The chocolate on the outside is GOLD. Not yellow, not light brown. But shimmering, shiny gold. The colour of aged gold leaf. Am-a-zing. That in itself was enough to make me sit and stare at it for a minute.
2. underneath the layer of gold is a layer of dark and not bitter chocolate. As I’m not a fan of dark chocolate this is good.
3. The ice-cream is pure creamy vanilla—at first I was disappointed that there weren’t actual vanilla seeds like in the Magnum White… but what’s this? it has a tang of… toffee!
4. Hidden within the heart of the ice cream is a lovely generous swirl of golden toffee, in fact! And a touch of Cornish cream. GAH!
ABSOLUTE HEAVEN i tell you. This is why I’m only allowing myself one a week.
I love the very idea that somewhere, in this world, hidden away, are Magnum Boffins whose sole job it is to create a better Magnum.
On a related note, before the ice creams became Brand Names in the 90’s there were just ordinary ones. Does anyone remember (in the UK) a banana flavoured one with a toffee centre? It was heaven. BUT WHAT THE HELL WAS IT CALLED? It’s driving me bonkers.
And here, to soothe your soul, are some wild poppies from the roadside on my commute. It’s a tough job, mine.
