Ads by Google

I’ve just looked at Speak Its Name – which is OWNED by me, and hosted by Tara-chan – and there’s bloody adverts all over the bottom of every page.

Does anyone know how to remove these??? I’m furious!

I would speculate that you're reliant on somebody else's services, if you're getting Google ads?
Also, interesting comment here from long-term web operator Debbie Ohi, who's a very nice lady in sf & f fandom.

ETA: I've checked with both Chrome and Opera, and I still see no ads . . . is it on the main page?

No - it's very odd - they've all disappeared. I shall keep an eye out - it might have been someething they were testing.

Don't think so - that's just a wifi connector. Very odd - they've all disappeared now. Perhaps they were testing something. I shall do a screen cap if it happens again.

I've just taken a look and I can't see any ads either, nor any blank space where an ad got blocked by AdBlock Plus. I'm on Firefox.

The only ads I see on SiN are an ad for Cheyenne Publishing and one for ADL Books.com. I see no Google ads--and even with AdBlock Plus, I can't completely get rid of Google ads.

Hmm - they have disappeared now. Very very odd. Perhaps it was just something they were testing out. I shall keep an eye on it.

*hugs* I'd hate to have them on a site that was supposed to be ad free, but I quite enjoy them on Gmail. As I've been emailing stories out for beta I've had them for false ID, exotic leathergoods, evasive driving courses, British trained butlers, reiterbogen and pedigree chincillas. All grist to the plotting mill.

They have their place but sneaking them onto your site is a rascally thing to do.
