Fail.

NOT a great day, for many reasons.

Words didn’t want to come, it was like pulling teeth. It doesn’t help that I (as you know) write in segments and join them up, and often when I’m joining up it doesn’t really mesh together because I’ve written something later that needs to be retro-fitted earlier, so I’ve been back and forth like Dr Who in the limited time span of the book today. I think people will like the narrator, but I’m not sure about the main protagonist – and no, they aren’t one and the same person. I’m still happy, but today I really wanted to kick it, hard. Dad had good advice “shut it down and try again tomorrow,” but I still feel that 300 words (and that’s just within what I already wrote, not new stuff) is a big fat fail.

Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today!

It's 300 words more than you had yesterday. I was going to write today because it's 32C in the shade, but Spenser's abscess is puffed up again, so it's back to the vet.

Your dad is write. Er, RIGHT. It's summer. Take it easy!

True - but I aim for 5k a week, or i'm just "playing" at this, rather than making a career. it's like...being told to sell 200 burgers and only selling 10. :D. At least I don't have a district manager breathing down my neck.

Poor Spenser. *thinks good thoughts* abscesses are tricky things.

If writing were like making hamburgers, there'd be far more awful books.

Spenser's doing well, but they did have to re-open the thing. The poor sweetie looks like he came out third in a two-cat fight, but he didn't have a fever, so the meds are doing their job, and it hasn't closed up again. Considering we've got 4 cats, 3 with claws, and this is the first abscess I've had to deal with in 30 years, that's a good average.

I know it's silly of me - but now I'm doing this full time, and being subsidised so much, I feel that if I don't reach my target, I'm letting myself down - over a day's writing 1000 words should be so easy - you'd think!
