I suppose that’s because I’ve been housebound and pretty much chair bound (I turn into a Weeble every time I stand up – except I don’t remember Weebles flailing their arms desperately. also Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down. Useless Erasteses. Erasti?)

i have discovered that I can download games directly onto the PS3! This is rather good. And what’s even gooder is that – unbeknownst to me, the CADS Ubisoft (damn their soft Frenchie bottoms, I fart in their general direction) have released TWO – not one, but TWO – add on games for Assassin’s Creed II with more levels, more areas of the cities, new moves – oh happy happy happy me!!!!! What’s hilarious is that one of them deals directly with “the mad monk Savonarola” and the Bonfire of the Vanities – hilarious because Chris Smith has written a novel about this part of history, so I shall be peering at every monk and every young swaggering artist in Florence in case they are Guiseppe and Tomasino.

I’ll have the time too, to work my way through my box of games and be ruthless and sell some on ebay. I’m never ever ever going to finish Max Payne, or Freedom Fighters (to be honest I can hardly finish the first levels) and stuff like that, so on ebay with them. Just realised that posting them is going to be a nuisance…Oh well, I’ll work something out.

Bugger all worth watching on the TV, thank Glod for the internet. Last night I watched “The Ghost Writer” which I hadn’t even HEARD of before (perhaps because much of the world is boycotting Polanski?) and really enjoyed it. It was excellently done with the Ghost Writer himself seemingly having no personality, whereas the guy he’s writing the book for (Pierce Brosnan) positively blows you over with his.  The ending was brilliantly done—brave, and the sort of thing I wish I could write. If you aren’t boycotting Polanski (no tirades in the comments please, I shall only ignore them) then do watch it—stellar cast including Olivia Williams, Tom Wilkinson, Ewan McGregor (you have to work hard NOT to watch a film with him in, these days).

Also started to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, but found it hugely dull and gave up after an hour. If i want to watch long sequences of kids doing Tai Chi I’ll watch You Tube or something.

I am SO wishing you to get back to your clear-eyed self, dear. And I hope they can find out what's causing your problem. Not knowing what you're dealing with is the worst thing there is.

Good wishes and soft meerkats to you!

I hope the next level of tests show up something, but I'm not holding my breath. I have a feeling that my eyes will have recovered (going by the last couple of days) by the time I GET any tests. LOL!

I very badly want to see The Ghost Writer. I remember when it came out, it got overall excellent reviews but the Polanksi thing put a black cloud over it so it didn't do well. I don't believe it was even widely released.

It's certainly worth seeing--not a blockbuster by any stretch of the imagination, but a wonderful setting although I don't think the idea was taken as far as it should have been.

A couple of days without decent sleep... I wonder why you're tired.

I've been adjusting to different glasses since Thursday, and the eyestrain is horrendous--I can't even imagine what you must be putting up with.

Just rest, don't fall down, get better. {{hugs}}

Well, I should have recovered from that, it's being cooped up that gets me down. I don't mind it when it's my idea, but when it's enforced, not so much! :D

I asked my occular person if it was eyestrain and she simply ingored the question, obviously there's no medical PROOF for that! But as these are my first "all one lens" bifocal, it seemed likely. However only an attack on the nerve can do it, apparantly - what do I know!

Oh, damn, that sounds familiar.

The graduated bifocals are great, but if they don't get the focal point EXACTLY RIGHT, you get all sorts of weird symptoms, with no perceptible cause. Both my wife and I had trouble with new glasses in the past several years -- out-of-focus, disorienting effects, a little dizziness -- and in each case it was a matter of somebody not putting the focal center exactly where it needed to be. I went from perfectly fine to not being able to walk in a straight line, back to fine just by taking off the new glasses and putting my old ones on.

If you can, go back to where the specs came from and ask to see an optical tech who knows what s/he's doing. That might not be the whole problem, but it could be a part of it.

Oh don't fall down! *hugs* you're bound to be tired. Hospitals are the worst place in the world for trying to sleep. Everything is so noisy.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to take the time you need to get better and rest and have fun and don't feel guilty about it, or try not to. Best wishes for your recovery.

Thanks hun. It's hard, though. I know Dad lives on a day-to-day basis and he won't even remember I haven't been there today or yesterday - but I still feel bad. :)

Hope you're feeling better soon. It takes awhile to recover from hospital lack of sleep, not even counting any medical conditions you might be fighting.
