Catching up
Aug. 3rd, 2010 03:23 pmI posted a review yesterday of “Consenting Adults” – a BBC film which was originally shown in 2007 but which i must have missed entirely. It’s about the Wolfenden Report, a report completed in 1957 to assess whether laws needed to be changed regarding prostitution and homosexuality. I highly recommend it. If you can’t watch it on the BBC Iplayer, then DO seek it out on Netflix or libraries or wherever else you can. If you have any interest in the history of homosexuality, it’s utterly fascinating watching. I learned a lot, not only watching it, but then subsequently researching the people involved. I’ve been thinking about doing a 1950’s spy story for ages, and this has made me more determined than ever.
No real change in the eyes, which is pretty hard to take. I just want to be better. Now. I’m not good with a long illness – especially as it doesn’t FEEL like an illness. I’ve never really BEEN ill before, not incapacity type ill – just flu – and a broken femur once which was the worst (six week in traction in hospital, six weeks in waist to toe plaster) It’s hard to post about this without sounding like i’m whining, and I apologise to Chris and Henri for being Ms Grumpy on the phone. I appreciate you both for cheering me up, believe me, it’s just that I don’t do long telephone conversations well, as it’s something i’ve never done.
I think I’ll have to put a notice up on Speak Its Name to explain that I’ll have to put the community on hiatus for the forseeable (no pun intended) future because I don’t have the capacity to read and review. I’ve been contacted by Carina who want to put me on their review list which is great news.
